American Idol Starts Tonight!

American Idol is on the verge of launching its 2009 season tonight with 36 contestants ranging from ages 16 to 28.  The competition looks, and sounds, fierce! And I'm sure Simon will be as snarky as ever.  If you love American Idol and want to write about it on Gather, Idol fan and Gather member Matt N. has created a group for other Idol fans to congregate (American Idol Fans). Richard, I agree with you on that one. Idol tends to be an uncomfortable train wreck much of the time.

I have to admit I'm hooked, but even if I wasn't, I'd watch just in case some of the recent space debris might fall on that horrible Tatiana creature.

How did some of these people make it to this round??? Not only are most of them boring, but a couple were completely off key. Simon is on point with all of his criticisms.

Girl, you gotta watch it from the start. It fun checking out the ones who think they can sing and you just have to shake your head at. I'm starting to develop a couple favorites, but I'll let another round or two go by before I make my picks.

This is when I start enjoying the show! I usually watch those first audition shows, much as I dislike them. I went through the audition process five years ago with my daughter, who was a minor and had to have a parent present. I barely lived to tell it, and swore I'd never watch again, but I did. I joined the group (made me miss Jake) and will try to keep up.

I disagreed with Simon on one tonight, which is unusual for me.

Danny Gokey was my favorite tonighy.

I thought Alexis Grace was by far the best, although Danny Gokey and the welder whose name I can never remember were good too...

I watched it myself tonight. I was glad to see the last guy or Danny made it to the top. I also like Alexis pretty good andMichael sings pretty well also. Danny Gorkey is my favorite so far.

I usually keep up better but I have only seen one audition show this season. I'm looking forward to watching tonight AND will check out the group.
