Good afternoon, Everyone!
I was reading my devotional on the way to work this morning and found our scripture for the day. The Lord also reminded me of where I can find scriptures online so I don’t always have to bring my Bible with me and I can just copy and paste the scriptures instead of typing which will save loads of time..
Anyway, the following is our scripture today from the Amplified Bible.
2 Corinthians 2:14:
14But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ's victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere.
Have you ever thought of your mind as a battlefield? Well, let me tell you that is exactly what it is. Your mind is the battlefield between good and evil, God and Satan. The difference between the two of them is that God will never force His will on you and Satan has no choice to do so because he’s an outlaw and has no real power unless he can con us into doing things his way.
That’s exactly how he got control of the earth. He conned Eve into mis-speaking what God had said and since Adam chose to try to impress or please Eve instead of pleasing God and saying what he knew he should say in the Garden of Eden, he ate the fruit he wasn’t supposed to and bowed his will to Satan’s and gave him control of the earth.
Jesus got that control back but it’s up to us to enforce it. We do that by speaking the Word and counter-attacking what Satan brings to our minds as thoughts. You cannot defeat thoughts with thoughts, though. It will never work because Satan cannot read your mind or hear your thoughts. He can only hear what comes out of your mouth.
That’s why it is so important for you to get the Word in your heart so that when thoughts come, you know how to respond to them. You can’t do it in your own strength because your emotions and distractions of the world get in the way. What you have to do is plant the seed of the Word in your heart by reading it, hearing it taught, and speaking it yourself because you believe what you say over anyone else.
If you say that you are feeling good and someone says you don’t look too good, you have a choice as to which way to go. You can either agree with that person and start saying that maybe you don’t feel so good or you can say that you feel fine and choose to keep saying it and not be moved by what someone else thinks and what you choose to say in that timing will determine how you feel the rest of the day.
The scripture I gave above refers to choosing to speak what God says in His Word, which is God’s way of leading you into triumph. If you use the Word to cast down imaginations (thoughts that are contrary to the things you want to happen), it will become such a part of you that one day you will catch yourself responding to Satan’s mental attacks and cons with the Word without even thinking about it.
One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 54:17 - But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.
I have used that scripture so often for so many different circumstances that it comes out of me every time my back is against the wall in any situation. It is so a part of me and my mindset now that I claim it on a regular basis for things that aren’t even that big of a deal. But, in a sense, every battle won in the Word is a big deal because it lets the devil know that he gets no place in my life.
You have to be that diligent if you want to live in victory and triumph. You cannot allow the devil to have even an inch or he will use it against you. That’s why the Bible calls him a thief and liar and why he’s going into the lake of fire when Jesus returns. He should not have any place in a believers’ life. The Bible says we are to give him no place so I do my best not to. Unfortunately, I do blow it but I get right back up and get going again.
Well, it’s time for me to stop. I hope this has blessed and encouraged you. Have a blessed day and may God empower you to prosper in every area of your life.
