Yesterday as we were leaving the mall about twilight time, we were amazed at the thousands of birds we saw. There were birds lined up on the telephone posts and wires, trees were full and as far as we could see, both to the right and left, the sky was full of flying birds. I immediately thought of the movie "The Birds." As I drove, the sky, trees and telephone wires remained full of birds for the next 3 traffic lights before thinning out.
I'm sure that large flocks of birds have been flying by the area for hundreds of years. Yet, I think the reference to the Hitchcock's "The Birds" is one that most would have made. I tried to think of other movie references that have permeated our culture. I suspect that saying "shower scene" would make most of us thing of "Psycho," although it doesn't seem as strong. Maybe because we shower and see shower scenes normally, unlike the congregation of all the birds.
Can you think of any other sights that have such a strong influence on our daily lives?

If you have not watched the original Airplane! I highly recommend it...
One of my all-time fav movies is Son-In-Law with Paulie Shore. I normally don't really like him, but this movie makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it. My favorite scene is where he is trying on clothes to fit in with country life. So he comes out of the dressing room wearing chaps... but with nothing on under them. He turns around so you see his butt and calls them "cheek chillers." to this day I think of that any time I see anything rodeo-related!
