I was listening to a teaching on the Integrity of God’s Word this morning and the following are the scriptures I felt God wanted me to share with you today.
Proverbes 3:5-8 (Amplified)
5 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6 In all your ways know, recognize and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn entirely away from evil. 8 It shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones.
There are benefits to putting your trust in God. But it can’t be just a sort of trust you place in Him. It has to be wholehearted without reserve. That means you can’t live with one foot in the ways of God and one foot in the ways of men of this world and expect to fully receive from God. God is a jealous God and He won’t share you. He wants all of your heart, all of your mind, all of your will, all of your emotions. Of course, He paid a stiff price for it. He sacrificed His Son so you could have eternal life so He expects the same commitment from you.
Now, God is a gentleman so He’s not going to force His ways on you. But it is to your benefit to give Him your all. If you read that passage carefully, it says to lean on, trust in and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. That says to me that we don’t know everything and we must defer to His wisdom and knowledge about things. He gave us His Word to show us His ways and His wisdom. It’s up to us to learn what that wisdom and what those ways are so we can be obedient so that He can prosper us in all ways.
Look at the benefits that verse 8 says we receive if we do things God’s way. It says it will be health to our nerves and sinews and marrow and moistening to our bones. Now, I’ll be honest with you, I have no idea what a sinew is but it says that it will be health to our nerves, which is great. That means if we are trusting God, we have nothing to be fretful or nervous about and since worry is the significant cause of ulcers, mental illness and all sorts of other sickness and disease, that’s a pretty important benefit to trusting God.
Another benefit is marrow and moistening to our bones. If you’re over the age of 40 or 45, your bones begin to be a big concern. They have ads on TV all the time with Sally Field talking about the drug that protects her bones. If trusting in God and doing things His way, strengthens and moistens our bones so they don’t get brittle and crack and have Osteoporosis, don’t you think it’s worth your time and effort to put Him first?
I just know that it’s when I don’t take time to put Him first that things seem to get difficult for me. That doesn’t mean you have to spend hours a day in the Word but if you will start your day praising God for the day as Psalm 118:24 says “This is the day the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it” before your feet hit the floor, you will begin your day focused on Him. And then take a few minutes to pray Psalm 91 over you and your family thanking God for His protection for the day. I would also suggest at that point that you cast all your cares for the day over on Him. Whatever it is that you know you will face and those things that only He knows you will face. If you get in this habit every morning, it will make your days go a lot better.
Okay, I’d better stop for now. As always, I pray that God empower you to prosper in every area of your life today.
Have a great day!
