Got any Photo Shop Pointers anyone??????

Hubby has put photoshop on my computer so I can work on my pictures. He had an older book for me to look through. I AM SOOO CONFUSED!! I have no idea what I am doing on there or what to do??!!

Does anyone have some pointers or clues as to how the program works?? I am semi intelligent...but this islike greek to me>>>>>

I've used Photoshop a while back.. but then it got too confusing.

It can do a lot, but not with ease. You'll have to study and practice. Over and over and over.

I have photoshop but there are so many different things you can do! I would suggest going to YouTube. There are a lot of great tutorial videos there. If you have any questions about doing a specific thing, let me know!

The little I do know I learned from trial and error. You should be able to find some tutorials online, though.

Yup...order the book, "How to Cheat in Photo Shop" by Steve Caplin from Focal Press. It's available on Amazon and is in most well stocked bookstores.

Developing an understanding of layers is critical. There are many great (and free) resources online that can walk you through the basics, as well as more advanced techniques.

One of the best ways to learn? ...Play with every option and tool.

every time I get something new for my computer I just dink around and try to figure it out...
I loved photoshop when I had it,
there is so much cool stuff you can do with it.....

Photoshop is a pretty complex program used by pros. It's very helpful to take a class with it. For the more casual user, you'd be way better off using Photoshop Elements, which is the pared down version that's still very powerful and much less expensive – around $100.

I've never worked on PhotoShop.
Google Photoshop into your browser. You will see a lot of sites that can help.
or go to www.about.com and search photoshop.

Photoshop is the "Gold Standard" when it comes to working with digital photos. It does take some time to learn. I have been working with different versions for about ten years now, and I have found that the best way to learn new things is to concentrate on the basics first and then practice, practice, and practice some more.

Also, working with Photoshop Elements (I have been using Photoshop Elements 6 for a little over a year now, and used Photoshop Elements 4 before that) to me is easier than the much more expensive professional versions. There are some good books, and if you can find one for beginners that concentrates on the basics I think you will soon find that you love the program.

I have found a book that helps a lot - Teach Yourself Visually, Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 (which is the version I have, but it is available for other versions) It runs you through things step by step with pictures. I got it at my local bookstore, but it is available from Amazon.

The only advice I can give you is just open the program and play around with it. That's what I've been doing with my newer software.
