Got any Photo Shop Pointers anyone??????

Hubby has put photoshop on my computer so I can work on my pictures. He had an older book for me to look through. I AM SOOO CONFUSED!! I have no idea what I am doing on there or what to do??!! Does anyone have some pointers or clues as to how the program works?? I am semi intelligent...but this islike greek to me>>>>>

Also, working with Photoshop Elements (I have been using Photoshop Elements 6 for a little over a year now, and used Photoshop Elements 4 before that) to me is easier than the much more expensive professional versions. There are some good books, and if you can find one for beginners that concentrates on the basics I think you will soon find that you love the program.
