Yesterday I went to a beauty school in Fort Worth for a haircut. I usually do this myself but I'm getting too old to reach around and do the back of my hair. My old bones don't want to stretch this high anymore without yelling at me. Big mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wear my hair very short because of my active lifestyle. I work in my yard and travel a lot and short hair is easier for me to manage.
When I got home and took a better look in my mirror I was very disappointed. One side of my hair was longer than the other side. The back neckline was about ½" higher on one side than the other. I managed to straighten out the mess and it now looks okay, but I won't be going there again. I thought the price of a cheap haircut would be worth the trip. Wrong!
While I was there I made a few observations. Most of the students were young women, which is what I expected but there were a few of the students who were much older, some of them were what I would call middle aged.
The man who cut my hair was 42 years old. This he told me because I asked. I asked him why he was making a career change at the age of 42. He said he had been a cosmetic salesman most of his life until this job became obsolete and then he was a pizza delivery man for several years. He told me he wasn't married and the relationship he was in had dissolved and he had to move back into his mom's house, the same house he grew up in. He explained that he had been a student at the beauty school for six months and lacked a few more months before being state certified. He had to call for assistance in using the curling iron on the top of my hair and the lady who came over to help him breezed right through it, so I got the impression that he wasn't very good at what he had chosen to do and after I got home I was convinced of it.
He also told me that the man at the station next to him was 40 years old and had been a pastor but decided it wasn't for him. He said the man was married with young children. Why does a 40 year old pastor decide not to be a pastor anymore? It must not have been a spiritual calling, my guess is that he just decided to be a pastor and then one day decided not to be. Both of these men were very handome with movie star looks. All this was fascinating to me.
I wonder how many other middle age men and women will be making career changes during this economic decline.
God bless America and make us a strong responsible country once again.

BTW, you should call the beauty school and tell them you are unhappy and have one of the teachers fix your lopsided haircut.
with todays job losses, i guess you will be seeing things like this alot
After that, you start off small, and every student who is allowed to work on people is fully supervised, and after the job is done, the supervisor goes through it fully to 'grade' the job, make sure the perm took, or hair dye took, or the cut is even, etc, and make sure the customer is happy before they approve the work.
I've always been satisfied going to the beauty school for a hair cut or updo (I've had 2 done there, and had my oldest daughter go for one once, too).
I would call back to the school and tell them what you found with it being uneven. I know here, it wouldn't have happened, and I've gone to several different beauty schools over the years.
My husband is considering a career change since he got laid off.
enjoyed this. SAlud
I'm glad I can still cut my own hair.
Some of the best hair dressers I've ever had were men. Too bad this one wasn't up to par. I usually get pretty good cuts at our local beauty school. Don't give up on them yet.

As for the haircut, I would normally say, go back and have the instructor fix it. The last hairstyle mess up I had, I just have been living with it. I hate it every day! I was charged for foil highlights when she colored it one color and much darker than I had asked for. To make maters worse, it has washed out in spots. This started the first week. It's horrible!
I’m just stopping by to share some
