MOONLIGHT WHISPERS AND LULLABIES

Moonlight whispers filled the air
with sweet perfume and magic flutes
as slumber carried me away on pillowed clouds
through rainbow arches toward the sky
where carousels of stars drift by
and characters from treasured lullabies
appear ‘round every twist and turn
in Heaven’s labyrinth floating high

While fairies dance ballets of masquerades -
pirouettes on clouds of lace -
in crystal castle silhouettes
against a sky of midnight blue
and moonbeam chariots of light sail by
on waves behind bouquets of shooting stars
displayed on Heaven’s stage, a light parade,
led by serenades and colors in a king’s array

Moonlight whispers and lullabies,
butterflies and nursery rhymes
carry me to lands of make believe
where dreams seem real
and only sugar plums and candy canes
await me while I sleep
no thoughts of fear or pain -
just moonlight whispers and lullabies
