Shhhhhh- I'm hunting jobs

Well I have officially been out of work for four months now.  That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the time off, but unless I find myself a sugar daddy soon I'm gonna run out of money.

I have been diligently search, almost daily, but the fact of the matter is that there are fewer and fewer jobs out there everyday.

I got two calls back this week and have interviews set up for next week.  YAY!!!!

Now my biggest fear is that I am one of many that they will be interviewing.

It's scary, because I am a nurse, with a degree and lots of schooling.  What about those that don't have that behind them??  What if they suddenly lose their jobs and have to try and find a new one.  Not to mention that nursing is hardly ever affected by the economy because people will always need medical attention.

Wish me luck in my interviews.  And pray for those that are still looking.

i just heard that there is a strong need 4 'senior companions' where u go 2 elderly peoples homes and assist them with their needs.

I certainly wish you much luck in your interviews... I hope you get an offer that suits your needs. I would not think that a professional, such as yourself, would have too much difficulty finding a Job - but a job you want..... I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!!
Roxanne - I know many who are looking for work. I know what you mean. At least you got your nursing degree so it will be a little easier. Relocating to demand areas can work as well.

Good luck. My cousin who is also nurse has been out of work since the end of the year. Nurses are being laid off where she currently lives. She wasn't employed full time in the hospital she worked at. She was there through an agency. Her contract expired the end of the year and was not renewed.

Good luck! There's so many people out of work in all fields I think. As someone said above, "elder sitting" seems like a nice thing. I have a friend who does that. Unfortunately one of her people just passed away so she's looking for someone else to work for too.

You should look in the paper for a Career Center. These are federally-funded and free but they offer lots of great services, including workshops on interviewing and practice interviews.

Good luck on your interview! :) I too thought that nursing wasn't affected. But a friend of my aunts just got booted last week. They gave her til friday to be gone and it was a Tuesday! Talk about cold hearted...
