Someone sends my one group 87 pictures of themselves in basically the exact same poses over and over and over again.
I hear the term "pass it forward."
A Gatherer bitches all the time about what they don't like, then wonders why they aren't popular.
A person who has been on Gather for only a day or two messages me, proclaims me the love of their life, and then wants me to write them at some Yahoo.com email address.
People hide their identities and then critique or bitch out others about anything.
Someone obviously copies a news or magazine article and doesn't credit the true author. Ever notice this is usually someone who can't string three good words together and then wonders why "their article" about the stimulus package doesn't have more views and/or comments?
I hear people bitch and moan about not getting page views or comments when all they ever post are two sentence statements about what they thought about last night's American Idol episode (or something similar).
People who advocate for certain causes (elections being a prime example) jump all over you wanting to know how you feel about them? Do we really need another political rant here on Gather?
Someone invites me to join a group about mattress stuffing, Perry Como music, or the abuse of green olives.
Pretty ladies here on Gather don't send me at least a few Valentine's Day smoochies.
Someone uglier than Freddy Krueger posts an article about how they've been sexually harassed and expects us to buy it.
Someone goes on about how someone else has done them wrong, and then lots of people rally to them and post supportive stuff. Has the concept of keeping an open mind or realizing that there are two sides to every story fizzled out?
People bitch about "cliques" and "groups" here on Gather. Don't people form "cliques" and "groups" out in the real world, too? Isn't the real reason people get mad is that they're not part of one of them?
Someone posts, "I only need 143 more points before I get my $25 gift card!"
I don't hear from Lois Lane for awhile!
Someone gets onto me for flirting or writing wild stuff, especially when they are doing so for the fourth or fifth time. Do they not understand how to click over to someone else's page?

I tire of the spammers. Content should at least pass an interesting test and I need 143 more points to get a gift card is just not that interesting. Some of the most interesting stuff here on Gather, like some of the visual artists and good writers, get ignored. We live in a culture that is rewarding the octuplet Mom with $2M to sell her story. I could write her story for God's sake -- "Easy Money." She's gonna be richer than I will ever be so maybe she is smarter.

I agree with all your rants. One time I was just rating pix and after about 20 views of the same object posted by the same person, I gave up. I think it's done solely for the points.

FYI, there is more than one kind of sexual harassment. Quid pro quo, or do for me and I'll do for you, which is prolly what you are referring to and then there's hostile work environment which can be just about anything. There was a Dr. who used to seek me out and flirt with me and I was written up for sexual harassment!

I agree with everything you mentioned and the good thing is that I cannot think of any more --thank God! I realize that there are more than 'Readers and Writers" on Gather and I have learned not to venture into the LUST for points groups. I joined to read, write, and learn how to improve both. Once here, being an adult and a senior citizen, I made choices to edit my preferences based on my interests and keep it confined to just that. In doing that, I have enormously reduced my stress levels and un-clogged my e-mail --my life is once again self-contained. Moderate and to approve comments before they appear has become my mantra on Gather.
Ed, I believe that only you can post a gripe here and not be castrated, in print, for your truth -- bravo!

I enjoy political rants, but when people start getting into bible verse wars, I start having flashbacks. Not the pretty kind. You can't argue myths and assumptions against facts.
Doesn't Georgia have man peaches? (I am a Yankee and only versed in the pseudo-southerness of those who live here, but THINK they're southern because they listen to country music and like fried foods and had a grandparent from Kentucky.)

The posters that post the points they need to cash out are violating TOS, so report them. Not only that, but it's extremely annoying. We're all in this together ... at least write something worthwhile that will generate the page views!
