When I was walking home from the bus stop last night, I was asking God which scripture to share with you today. When I got home, I had called a prayer line for prayer about bringing my two kittens back into where I lived because I didn’t want certain people seeing them because it could endanger all of my babies. Anyway, when the prayer warrior was praying, she used Psalm 5:12 in the prayer and I suddenly knew that was my scripture for today. So, without further ado, here goes…
Psalm 5:12 (Amplified)
“For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly] righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield, You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).”
Now, I want to add another scripture before I say anything. It is as follows:
Psalm 90:17 (Amplified)
“And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands – yes, the work of our hands, confirm and establish it.”
One more: Proverbs 3:4 (Amplified)
“So shall you find favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight (or judgment) of God and man.”
I love these scriptures and have used them often. Favor can sometimes be more important in life than any other blessing of God because sometimes just having favor with someone can change a circumstance completely.
Let me give you an example. About a year and a half ago, I was facing eviction from my landlord. I knew that if I managed to get the money for her by the court date, she would not evict me. However, the morning of my court date came and I didn’t have anything to give her. So, I prayed and I trusted God for favor and a miracle.
I was sitting in the courtroom and she was late getting there. When she came in, she motioned to me to come out and talk to her. We went upstairs to a quiet spot and I asked her if there was something we could do to work this out. She asked me why I hadn’t tried to do that before now. I told her I did. I left a note for her over two weeks earlier and never got a response from her. Evidently, she never got the note. Since one of the desk clerks really doesn’t like me, I’m not surprised because he probably figured that if he got rid of the note, he’d get rid of me. He’d already done something similar once before so I wasn’t too surprised.
Anyway, she offered me a deal and a time frame of ten days to get the money to her completely out of the blue. She didn’t have to do that. She could have let the judge make a ruling and I would have been out that weekend. But she gave me a chance. I call that favor! Especially, since I owed her around $2,100.
Well, the ten days came and went and our next court date was scheduled for the following Thursday. I had prayed and rolled the care of the situation over on God because there was absolutely nothing I could do. That Tuesday, I came home from work and had a message from my father saying my sister had had a change of heart (up until then, she wouldn’t even take my phone calls or consider helping me out). God had softened her heart and given me favor with her and she sent the money overnight to my Dad.
Well, it was going to take a couple of days for the money to get to me and that would have been after the court date. I explained everything to my landlord, and once again, I found favor with her and she actually went to the court clerk (she was already at the courthouse for another case) and got a continuance until the following Monday to give me time to get the money in. Fortunately, my father was able to wire the money to me Wednesday and I paid my landlord that afternoon and the whole matter was settled.
Now, I call that the favor of God.
I have to stop right now because my co-worker just came in injured from a fall and I need to help her so I’ll talk more tomorrow.
Have a blessed day and may God empower you to prosper in every area of your life.
