News about Obama's spending bill, wrongly termed a stimulus bill, or as the new President likes to call it the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act, that you won't get from the regular news media.

Â
(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) predicted on Thursday that none of his Senate colleagues would "have the chance" to read the entire final version of the $790-billion stimulus bill before it comes up for a final vote in Congress. The bill that emerged from a House-Senate conference committee was posted online late Thursday in two PDF files - a total of at least 999 pages.
Doesn't this bother you? It does me. This isn't the only time that politicians will vote on something they haven't read, but it should be the last. If it's too much to read in a day or two, delay the thing so everyone can digest what has been added and subtracted. It isn't right that they vote on things they haven't read. Would you? Don't you have to wonder, "What's the hurry?" If a car salesman tries to rush you into buying something, it's usually because it's a piece of junk that no one else wants. If he tells you there's nothing in the fine print, there usually is.

GOP Calls Obama's Census Plans Unconstitutional, an 'Assault on Democracy'
Washington (CNSNews.com) - House Republican leaders on Thursday criticized President Barack Obama's plans to get White House political staff more involved in the coming 2010 census, calling the move unconstitutional and a political power grab. lso, on Thursday, Republican Sen. Judd Gregg (N.H.) withdrew his name for nomination as Commerce Secretary citing, among other issues, the Obama administration's plans for handling the Census Bureau.
Â
What do you think? Should the White House take control of the census? Remember...the numbers are what dictate much of the funding in Congress. Who will be their watchdog to make sure they don't count illegals as citizens?

Facebook Says It Erred in Removing Conservative Group's Anti-Stimulus Petition
(CNSNews.com) - Facebook has done an about face. The Internet social networking site told CNSNews.com that it made a mistake when it took down an ad for "NoStimulus.com" -- a Web site sponsored by a conservative nonprofit group that is running a petition campaign opposing the stimulus bill under consideration in Congress.
Â
Not any politician's fault. Write to Facebook and let them know this was wrong, though.

Will Stimulus Bill Work? Yardeni, Experts Say No
WASHINGTON (MoneyNewsNow.com)Â -- The compromise economic stimulus plan agreed to by negotiators from the House of Representatives and the Senate is short on incentives to get consumers spending again and long on social goals that won't stimulate economic activity, according to a range of respected economists.
"I think (doing) nothing would have been better," said Ed Yardeni, an investment analyst who's usually an optimist, in an interview with McClatchy Newspapers. He argued that the plan fails to provide the right incentives to spur spending.
"It's unfocused. That is my problem. It is a lot of money for a lot of nickel-and-dime programs. I would have rather had a lot of money for (promoting purchase of) housing and autos. ... Most of this plan is really, I think, aimed at stabilizing the situation and helping people get through the recession, rather than getting us out of the recession. They are actually providing less short-term stimulus by cutting back, from what I understand, some of the tax credits."
Obama claims that most economists agree with the stimulus package, but that is not true. Even on "regular" news, there are economists being interviewed who do not see this bill as a stimulus. 200 economists took out at full page ad in the newspaper.Â

Stimulus Sell-Out: Three GOP Senators Slashed Billions in Tax Cuts; Specter Got 6.5 Billion
(Newsmax.com) - The "gang of three" - liberal Republican Sens. Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins - who handed President Obama the stimulus bill he so desperately needed, apparently sacrificed billions in tax cuts during final negotiations over the measure in order to reduce its cost.
The compromise bill, which may be ready for President Obama's signature as early as Monday, also stripped America's ailing businesses of tax benefits and other incentives.
"From auto dealers to the home-building industry, big business appears to be the biggest loser in the final economic stimulus plan . . ." The Wall Street Journal online reported, noting that Democrats removed key tax cuts and benefits for business as political payback for Republicans who failed to support the plan.
Though Republicans who crossed party lines apparently got rewarded. The New York Times reported Thursday that Specter got $6.5 billion for medical research. The senator is ailing from cancer.
There's quite a call for these Republicans to be voted out next time.

The So-Called Stimulus Package is Turning into an Orwellian Nightmare
(cfif.org) Center for Individual Freedom - After reaching a "deal" to rectify differences in the House and Senate versions of this so-called "stimulus package," liberals in Congress now want to SHOVE it onto the floor of the House and the Senate for a QUICKIE VOTE BEFORE ANYONE EVEN HAS THE CHANCE TO READ IT!  We don't know what's in it... you don't know what's in it... most of our elected officials won't even know what's in it!  That's NOT a "deal." THAT'S TYRANNY!
Again, what's the hurry? Since the bill does not give much in the way of immediate relief or stimulus, our leaders in Washington could have taken their time to come up with soimething not so costly to our kids and grandkids. And something that would actually be a stimulus instead of merely being a way to get liberal programs installed and lots more government programs and departments created.

Daschle's Out - But His Healthcare Plan Is In
(onenewsnow.com) - New York Lieutenant Governor Betsy McCaughey, who has written an op-ed for Bloomberg News titled "Ruin Your Health with the Obama Stimulus," says doctors who do not adhere to the new federal tracking system will face "stringent" penalties determined by the Health and Human Services secretary.
Â
There was some talk that this was out, then in again. Then there was some talk about certain provisions being taken out that would keep Americans from getting the right care and from their doctors being penalized for not doing the usual. Do we really know what was put into this bill?

Obama Spending Bill Vote Expected Friday
(grassfire.org) - Grassfire is urging all members of our team to make one final push demanding members of both the House and Senate oppose this spending bill--that many economists are saying will not stimulate the economy or put Americans back to work. Please sign the petition.... call your senators.... send faxes! Call the Capitol Switchboard to be connected to your Senators or Representative 202/224-3121.

And don't forget, that there was a provision in the bill that would have made it wrong for any school or college taking federal funds to allow religious meetings or instruction to be done on campus. That would have taken the right for churches to rent schools on Sunday. And it would have meant that a student could not hold a Bible study in his/her own dorm room. For now, it appears that the provision has been removed. But who knows what will end up in the final bill. Religious Freedom of College Students Under Attack

We are going to pay for this for years to come!
Many many many years to come.....
I am too sick for this today. Thanks for sharing though, I will read again when I feel better.
I am curious to see which colleges and universities will bow to the blackmail and forbid religious meetings and worship. My daughter attends a state college that has several churches on campus as well as some non-denominational religious student groups.
The churches are attended by townspeople as well as students. This exclusion is just plain wrong.
Obama stated he wanted it pass before the 16th which is President's Day
and the day He will sign the bill.
We are no longer a Democracy but a Socialist country.
I only pray that my saviour Jesus soon returns.
Have a great gather day!!!!!!

Job Suggestion for: The President of The United States
LOCAL JOBS AVAILABLE SOON
I wish to suggest a project that may put unemployed men and women back to paid work at once. The money paid to fight fires, and repair the damage, can be used to start a fire elimination program through out the nation. A program for men and women of all ages that are able to work outside on light work or inside managing the project. It is also an anti-crime program that removes the unemployed from the streets and places them in a controlled work program that provides a wage.
The unemployed workers can be bused to and from their homes to provide a day's work in removing area fire hazards. Local and state funds can be used at start until the recovery funds are available. Each city can begin work from their center and work out in a circle until they reach another group from a neighboring area. They can then set up a joint program to reach longer distant areas.
This work is healthy outside work that will make our workers more fit for the future and the need to operate heavy equipment and other vehicles will provide a on-the job training program provided by using the skilled unemployed as the instructors. The out come of this program is more valuable workers for the large school, road, and related projects planned for the future.
The clearing program is temporary but keeps the unemployed ready for industry work when they begin to rehire. The plan is to make this a feed program of better trained workers as industry and construction can use them. A hiring program will be busy placing the workers into permanent jobs they can fill so when the clearing work is nearly finished, the workers are mostly on industry jobs with long time employment.
This letter is just a brief on how a simple program can help solve a very large problem. I would be willing to discuss this in depth with anyone that wants more information to put things into action. :http//www.disastermanager@comcast.net.
