Feb. 14, 2009: The good times roll this week on...

I'll be the first to admit I love romance, rich words, and music that makes me dance. On the Valentine's Day show Prairie Home Companion brings all three:

This week on A Prairie Home Companion, we'll welcome the Grammy™ Award winning Cajun institution known as BeauSoleil with Michael Doucet, and prolific world jazz trombonist and composer, Roswell Rudd. We'll also have singer and erstwhile Wailin' Jenny, Heather Masse, and opera legend Vern Sutton. And, since it'll be Valentine's Day, we're going to read the winners from our Valentine's Day Poem and Song Contest too. Also with us, The Royal Academy of Radio Acting: Mark Benninghofen, Sue Scott, and Tom Keith, The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, and The News from Lake Wobegon. It's all live, this week from the Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul.

Things have been a whirlwind around the house and the idea of rolling up the rug, cranking up the music and turning the living room into a dance floor really appeals to me. What are you doing this weekend?

Sounds like a good time. BeauSoleil will be icing on the cake! I plan to cook a little supper, drink a little wine, dance around the kitchen with the dogs, and check out the window to see if there are ice fishers still on the lake while I listen.

You know, that's a great idea. It is easier to roll up the rug in the kitchen, too! ;-)
