graduation gift ideas

Well giftcards and cash are always the most wanted and needed gifts, but you can always get something personalized from Things Remembered or another similar store.

Times have changed so much, that there are probably gifts I don't know about. I do know that the two gifts my husband used and seemed to relish for his high school graduation was a really excellent dictionary at the time and an electric razor that was a very good one. Those both went into service for many, many years. He still has the dictionary, and we still use it. There are mathematical equations in the back of it that he uses still on a regular basis when working on one of his projects. Based on my daughter and nephews though, cash is always great with them.

It seems these days everyone just gives and wants gift cards for graduation. Honestly, though, i kind of got pissed that I only got cash for college graduation last year and several gift cards for Christmas this year because I think cash and gift cards are thoughtless. There are things I want and need and the people that give me gift cards come off as lazy or I feel they do not really know me or care to. That said I know my cousin just a year younger than me would rather get gift cards and is know to return pretty much every non gift card gift she receives.

College life has come a long way. You could most likely find out from his mom what he will need for a dorm room if anything. Maybe a really nice backpack/messenger bag or laptop bag, especially if he will be going back and forth to visit home.
I personally would put together a small "mess kit" A couple of plates and bowls, two sets of silverware, a small clear glass bowl and small clear glass dish for microwaing or baking in, a couple of pot holders, mugs, glasses... all the basics in sets of two. I would include a handful of coupons for microwavable foods, mac and cheese single packs, oatmeal, ramen, the college staples. Another great thing is hot pockets.
Also a care package of toiletries is always nice. Shampoo, deoderant, shaving gel, razors, aftershave, lotion (yes guys should use it too), and maybe some shower slippers.
A sewing kit for reattaching buttons or simple things (not sure how much he would like this, but I know guys that would).
Scented glade plug ins are ALWAYS nice for dorm rooms or roomate situations. Dorms always have a funk to them, and no one can control when a roomate is going to leave sweaty workout gear laying around.
If you are crafty, a hand made quilt is nice, or maybe a new sheet set. I LOVE new sheets.
A towel set, a bath sheet, a couple of washcloths. I never really use the hand towel size, and do not know many people who do. They might come in handy in dorms for wiping up drink spills.
You know him best, so try to find out what he wants, or what he needs for living out of the house.

Cash or giftcards would be my choice.

I think gift cards is a great idea. That way the graduate will have a choice what he wants to buy.

The only good gift I can think of is either a gift card or money.
