First my cat Piki started vomiting repeatedly and was losing weight. I took him to the vet and she did a lot of expensive tests and said he had an infection in 3 organs, the pancreas, the liver, and the small intestine. She gave him an antibiotic shot, an anti-neusea shot, and antibiotic pills to take home. She also put him on a special prescription diet. Instead of getting better, Piki got worse. Today I took him back to the vet and she took x-rays and found that his stomach was distended to 3 times its normal size and filled with gas. He didn't have an obstruction, nor did he have any of the many diseases he was tested for. The vet said he might have inflammatory bowel disease and might even need medicine and special food for the rest of his life. Today he couldn't keep down any food or liquids. The vet gave him a steroid shot and another anti-nausea shot and sent him home with steriods and anti-nausea medicine to go with his antibiotics. He has lost a pound and a half and he was thin to begin with!
Right after Piki got sick, my 7 month old lab pup Amy came down with an upper respiratory infection. She went to the vet and was given antibiotics and antihistamines. Then Amy gave the rspiratory illness to my pit bull Dakota and the vet gave him antibiotics and antihistamines too. My vet bill has already passed $1000 this month!
I think Friday the 13th came early for me! I feel sad when my pets are ill. I hope they will get well soon. Also, the vet bill is quite a strain on the budget. Wish me luck, please!
