PETA dresses in KKK garb outside Westminster Dog Show

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals knows how to grab attention. And show off its laundry.

The animal rights group, which every year stages a protest at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, had two of its members dress in Ku Klux Klan garb outside Madison Square Garden on Monday.

Their goal, according to a post on the PETA website, was to draw a parallel between the KKK and the American Kennel Club. "Obviously it's an uncomfortable comparison," PETA spokesman Michael McGraw told the Associated Press.

Um . . . Sometimes I find it hard to continue to support PETA's missions. This is a little far fetched for even me to get behind. I love watching the dog shows! Does PETA think they are being mistreated or something? If so, that is total bullocks. These dogs are beyond spoiled rotten!

Doesn't surprise me. One ridiculous stunt after another. If people care about animals there are much better organizations to donate to, like your local Humane Society Chapter or the World Wildlife Federation.

Ok. I just read your link and I guess I can understand the "uncomfortable comparison." The AKC does hold high standards for purebred canines. I love all breeds of dogs but can understand their stance on the best of the pedigree. PETA could have gotten their point across more tactfully though. But that's really not their style now is it?

I think it may be some of the breeders practices , as in smaller dog, more pushed in nose that most animal lovers dislike. To my knowledge most respectable breeders don't do this.
Great Danes only live an average of 8 years, English Bulls the same. A lot of the things that make a particular breed of dog desirable is actually very bad for the dogs health and longevity.

KKK robes is a bit too far fetched

yeah, those dogs have more money spend on their food a month than i do...im just sick of PETA in general

PETA has good intentions but they make idiots of themselves on a regular basis.

The similarity is that PETA is the KKK of the animal world. At least that is the message I get.

PETA makes me really sad. I think they lose positive support by being so radical. If they weren't such a radical group their opinions might be more widely accepted. Most people I know just think PETA is a joke because they are so radical.
