Cat thrown to death from 14th floor apt

YONKERS — An 18-year-old has been charged with felony animal cruelty after he allegedly threw his mother’s cat to its death out a 14th-floor window.

The teenager, Shaman Irvin, told officers that he hates cats and that he tossed the unneutered animal Thursday from his Warburton Avenue apartment building because it sprayed urine on the floor and scratched him, said Detective Ken Ross III of the SPCA of Westchester.

Good grief, that is just disgusting.......if he does that to animals, I wonder what he'll do next....maybe harm/kill human beings????? I hope that idiot is punished and punished good.......anything to do with animals really makes me mad....poor defenseless animals cannot defend themselves.....this guy is a real sicko. Sounds like he pretty much hates everybody and everything.

Oh, the poor thing. I've heard of cats surviving falls like this, though. Still it's pretty cruel to throw one out the window.

This kid is hardly dry behind the ears and he does something like that. It shows me at least that he would probably do that to a human being who irritated him. At least he could have respect for his mother who loved the cat, but he didn't even do that. It reminds me of my evil brother in law.

IF there is a comment to be made in defense of all cats, it is that their behavior changes dramatically when they are neutered - which can head off spraying problems and behavior problems.

The second thing, if a cat has a clean litter box, he will use it unless he has a urinary tract or bladder or kidney infection.

The third thing, I would suggest this was an act of agression and hate against the kids mother, not so much the cat.

The fourth thing - - if I were his mother, I'd change the locks.
