Good afternoon, Everyone!
This morning, our Word for the day is about breakthrough and I don't know anyone who doesn't need a breakthrough in some area of their life.
The scripture is:
I Chronicles 14:11 (Amplified Bible)
"So (Israel) came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote the {Philistines} there. Then David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the bursting forth of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim [Lord of breaking through].
I don't know about you but I could really use some breakthroughs in a number of areas in my life. What about you? Could you use a breakthrough or two or three?
One thing I've learned about God is that they rarely happen overnight because if they did, we wouldn't need faith and we would need to learn patience which produces the result of faith. Isn’t it funny how God sort of fixes it so we have to depend on Him to get from point A to point B in life? For one thing, He says it’s impossible to please Him without faith and in order to use our faith, we have to develop patience. So, basically if we want Him to do as we ask, we have to do as He asks.
Breakthroughs require us to keep our focus on what God’s Word says and nothing else. You can’t talk the circumstances and focus on what you have now if you want things to change. If you want a breakthrough in some area, you have to chip away at the problem with your faith and that means you have to fill your heart with God’s Word first in order to build your faith because the Bible says that it’s out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. If you don’t first feed on and fill your heart with God’s Word, you can’t speak the necessary words (which are the scriptures filled with faith) that bring the results.
Let me explain it this way. When God decided to create the world, He spoke it into being with His faith. That’s what He expects us to do with situations in our lives. Mark 11:23 says we have to speak to the mountains (problems) in our lives to get them to change. But if we are speaking words of doubt, unbelief or constantly talking about the problem as it is, it will stay that way. You have to speak words of faith. Romans 4:17 says that God calls things that be not (do not exist) as if they already existed.
I’ll use an example Gloria Copeland has used often. You can’t call the cat and expect the dog to obey! Get it! If you keep speaking that you’re broke or sick or whatever, you’ll keep being broke, sick or whatever. But if you start speaking that you are prosperous, well and blessed after filling your heart with scriptural promises of that expectation, eventually your circumstances will line up with what you are saying.
Think of this. If there is a hole in a dam and no one does anything to mend it, water pushing up against it will wear away at the hole until it finally breaks through and destroys the dam altogether. If you keep speaking words that are in line with the promises you desire, you will put a hole in the dam of your problem little by little and it will keep getting bigger until the dam of the problem is no longer keeping you from what you desire.
I hope that blesses someone today. I may come back to this subject tomorrow because I’m not sure it’s done. However, for today, may God empower you to prosper and may you have a wonderful day!
