Now this is a record of the likes of which I have never seen...

I am in no way accusing anyone of anything!  No...  Not at all!  But when I see a record like this...my mind just goes to a stratosphere beyond anything I can think of...

I was just curious to see who our "top" people were today...and there is a young lady who has had 12,986 page views for one day!  That is just 14 shy of having 13,000 page views.

How is this possible?  Her arm must be falling off!  I have heard of a couple of thousand and may have seen one reach almost 5,000 once.  But 13,000???  Is it physically possible to do that many views in one day?  Is this a Gather glitch?  If so...it's a nice one where she is concerned. Again...I am not accusing her of anything.  But this is mind boggling!

Has anyone else seen this happen before???

I actually saw the one with Michael Phelps and the bong up around 65,000 views.

If the article is "fed" to other blog sites with a lot of traffic, and people read it there, it counts as page views here.

I agree with Barbara, if you have others outside of Gather seeing your stuff it counts as a page view. She probably has other sites that she posts her links to or something. I'm not really sure how it all works.

She may have several dozens of people in her email contacts, and emailed them all to view her postings...that's my only thought about how it was possible.

well it isnt just gather member views, its anyone. if they post something and someone googles it (yes we are on google) they will get a view that way. i still doubt that 13,000 in a day is really true though, but who knows?

This is why we need to DIGG, tag with del icio us, use our blogs to link to, etc., each other's stories on Gather (if they are that good)! Then the whole world will (or may) come. Otherwise, it's just us (an outstanding group, of course, but each of us can only read x thousand or so pages a day).
