The government has introduced a new website, http://financialstability.gov/, to track the Financial Stability Plan announced by Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner today.
For information on the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act/TARP, look here: http://www.treas.gov/initiatives/eesa/.
Today's remarks by Secretary Geithner can be read here http://www.treas.gov/press/releases/tg18.htm, or watched from links on the financial stability site.
Right now there are the very bare bones of a site, and the site says it is coming soon. Watch to see if the transparency we were promised actually materializes. If the site lives up to its promise it should be very useful and informative.
At the present time the stock market is less than impressed by the proposed financial stability plan, with the Dow down 366 points(4.4%) and the broader NASDAQ down 62 points (3.89%) and the S&P 500 down 41 points (41.7%).
