SAYING GOODBYE
At night, I sleep in a restless state;
hearing your voice, seeing your face;
reliving those last moments you were here
Everywhere I go, there are reminders
of what we shared and what was to be
shattered by a harsh reality
I keep wondering if this is a dream
I’ll awaken from and be in your arms -
safe, warm, and at peace once more
But the sun rises and I must face
another day without you
alone with the memories
And what memories I’ll have to treasure,
gifts of each moment our lives were joined,
the day we met, the day we wed
Saying goodbye to a dream
is always the hardest goodbye,
a devastating loss
But I still have the strength
in the bond of love we share
to step out from the shadows
For that love will guide me
through the journey I face
to find other dreams and another destiny
But, wherever I go, I’ll carry you with me
living for the dreams we might have lived,
your heart always beating in step with mine
