This past Sunday I needed to get out of the house and go for a long walk. We had spent most of Saturday doing odd jobs around the house, cleaning up and laundry and the like.
So after CBS Sunday Morning went off (which I hardly ever miss) I gathered up my little dog, Fenway, and my camera and told my husband I was going for a walk. He said he needed to stretch his legs as well, so we set off.
Very near our house (right across the street from our street) is a wooded area where we like to ramble. It's a little bit of the forest, right there in town, and is owned by the Audubon Society. One of the surrounding home owners associations, who had the property, deeded it the Audubon so it could never be developed.
Knowing this little piece of heaven is so near to me brings more peace of mind than I can convey here.
For little Fenway, it is his favorite place to go for walk. As soon as we get to the area he gets to work leaving his mark. Other dogs might not realize this, but he considers this area...all HIS ;-)

There's a half a mile stretch of greenway where people can walk or ride bikes. When we walk there, if no one else is around, I can let Fennie off his leash to ramble as he wishes.
Doesn't he look like a dog on a mission ;-)

About half way down the greenway there is a trail that goes into the woods and near a pond. We decided to walk go in there to see if there was anything interesting to photograph.

We weren't disappointed...

There were two turtles and it looked like they were either talking or kissing. As soon as they saw us they both dropped into the water.
What they didn't know if I can be very patient and wait...which I did.
Soon one of them came back up...

I think he may have sensed we were still there, but the warm rays of the sun were too enticing...

In a minute or so, another decided to check it out...see his little head poking out in front of the log on the left?

He starts hauling himself out of the water...

He must have assumed we were harmless and settled onto the log...

By this time I could see a third head poking out of the water...
Can you see it there at the end of the log in the shadow below on the right?

He swam to the end of the log so he didn't have so high to climb. It didn't take him long to get out of the water...

And so, then there were three...

At this point, Fennie was done with turtle watching and was doing some sunbathing of his own...

It was getting late (almost noon) so we decide to head back home for lunch with Fennie leading the way...

It was a nice way to spend a lazy Sunday morning ;-)

Your pictures are gorgeous and the turtles are so fun, I've never seen them in a pond before. Sheltered city woman here.
Actually, we are having a warm spell here in frozen Michigan. It rained last night and most of the snow is gone on my street. I need to get outside and enjoy it while it lasts.
Fennie is a chihauhua/terrier mix Mariana...he just turned 9 last month and we'd have him 6 years, he was a pet rescue doggie.
yes, Roy I felt very lucky to get three at one time...they really wanted to get in the sunshine ;-)
Those turtles made me want to clean them.
Turtles are interesting critters, love that green slime:)
Blessings and best wishes - S.
