Joint Pain?

Lately I have been noticing that I am having some joint pain...maybe more like stiffness. Since I have never had this before, I'm wondering why a person would all of a sudden have it.

I'm 32, severly anemic, have restless leg syndrome & I've had a gastric bypass surgery in 2003.

That said...any ideas on what would cause joint stiffness?

It come when I sit in a certain way for even a few minutes. Like crossed legged on the floor, in a chair..etc. When I stand up my hip joints seem to hurt.

I know people who get that from cold weather but I ma sure there are many reasons.

I would give your doctor a call.

I have joint pain but it comes from past injuries to my ankles, and from running a lot. Not sure what would bring it on all of a sudden for you. I agree with Chris, give your Dr. a call.

could it be because you are now living in a colder climate? I am not yet 30, and I have joint pain & stiffness that the doctors say is arthritis and I've had it for years now. try heat and anti-inflamatories like advil.

Not saying anything about your age, but as some people get older, a touch of arthritis begins to set in. Most morning, I wake up very stiff making it difficult to move...arms and legs. I know mine is from rheumatoid arthritis. I find if I take a couple Aleve first thing; the pain usually lessens and I begin to limber up within an hour or less. I let the pills kick in while sitting around having my morning coffee.

Arthritis possibly. I know mine has gotten worse over the years. Try glucosamine condroitin with MSM.

I also found out I have bursitis in my shoulders and knees. Does anything make a "popping" sound?

The weather can be a big factor, but having it checked out wouldn't be a bad idea.

Cold weather seems to bring out pains. Feel better.

It could be a touch of arthritis setting in...or even osteoarthritis. My sister has it, and the symptoms you describe are similar to hers. Feel better soon!
I don't have insurance, so I do not have a Dr. but I might try the Crodroitin and cluclosamine mentioned above as I have seen them mentioned on a commercial as available in a drink.
Cold weather definitely does it for me, which is why I enjoy Florida as much as I do... except lately, when it's been (comparatively) chilly here as well and my joints are all aching. I hate taking drugs, and have found anything with MSM to actually aggravate my problem, but Glucosamine is highly recommended by my sister who has Degenerative Arthritis in her knees. She swears by it.

you are getting old! lol I didnt know you had gb.. I had mine in 01. that affects the circulation and it is what makes us anemic... poor vitamin asorbtion. I would check with the doc because if your calcium is low you could be setting your self up for osteo probs... I am horrible at taking my vitamins, they make me wanna puke!

Gee, Priscilla, that's excruciatingly young for joint pain. Certainly, you need to get a physician's opinion and have some tests. There are lots of different possible reasons for it, including systemic immunodeficiency diseases. It could be nothing but overtiredness as well, but get it checked ASAP. Good luck and God bless.

See the doc. Sounds like arthritis, but what kind of arthritis will dictate the treatment. You don't mention swelling or heat in the affected joints, but that's one indicator of rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is much more common. Do your hips hurt in the front, like close to the groin area? Chances are that's osteo, and glucosamine will help.

Also, you left Texas? Why would anyone leave Texas? Ever? The warm weather is my best friend. I can't imagine the level of pain I'd have if I had to live north of the Red River. Yikes!

Sorry to hear about your joint pain - no fun. I developed joint pain overnight, after I got bitten by a tick and ended up with 2 Lyme diseases. Overnight! It was very strange. It may be from the cold coupled with the anemia?

I have joint pain and I'm a few years younger than you (26). Mine is all caused by old injuries, though. It's in one ankle, knee, both wrists, and a shoulder. Yeah, I've had a lot of injuries!

I'm new to this, but my understanding is that the anemia can play havok with your joints. Have you checked into any state-backed insurance programs since you've moved? I understand the stimulus program will have some programs to help working people who don't have insurance. Please look into these. Then you can find out what's up. I hope I don't sound bossy, but I do care.
