Guess I better go slit my wrists for even mentioning in an earlier post that some kids might get SOME much needed dental care from this Government thru sCHIP.
I went into and out of the health care 3 ring circus in this country for 68 years.
I had free care as a poor kid growing up in Buffalo, NY.
I had excellent BC/BS when married to a Union Steel Worker for 11 years.
I had NO health care options for the 35 YEARS as a working single mom after I left my Union job in NY to move to Florida (a right to work 'FOR LESS' State) after my divorce.
I just got put on S S Medicare in 2006.
First thing Medicare wanted was a COMPLETE physical .......guess they need to determine what damage having NO heath care for 35 years can do to a body for their 'Early Intervention' files. LOL
That is what I KNOW and what I know about so I am not going to argue or debate what anyone had, has or is going thru in their life.
Anyone that has a good job with Ins and benefits has a much different take on things than someone that is unemployed and w/o ins................there can BE no meeting of the minds for them.
Retirees and their situations are as different as there are ways to count them so getting a concensus from them, as a group, is like herding cats in a swimming pool.
Those that swear that the states can do a better job than the Fed has never lived in a Southern State. No Unions? Fine but that means no disability laws unless it is an 'on the job' problem. Tough for cancer victims..............guess their kids don't need to eat or have a roof over their heards!
Can't work? No U. I. if you're unfit to report for daily work. Under employed? Can't find even one decent job in your town...........guess you need to NOT find 2 to pay the bills. Maybe the landlord will not be looking for you on the 1st, the power will stay on by magic and the refrigerator will suddenly re-stock itself.
Guess what I am getting at is this..........we can all listen to each others stories and take what we can from each voice ........just try not to discount the reality that someone else is living thru by drawing a comparison to your own reality! Comparing apples and oranges only gets ya a nice recipe for a fruit salad!
Blessings!

Well written an accurate.
Million hugs to you.
Health care is not a privledge it is a right.
Till they find themselves in the same boat. That may happen to more than a few in coming months and years. My folks were staunch Republicans, but they absolutely ended up loving FDR, after their fathers had to do WPA work to feed their families, and they had a chance to go hungry for a long time before that...
All Americans should have adequate health careāat a fair, affordable cost.
And, Lori, I agree that health care should be right. But, in our system, it is a privilege. We have to change that idea in this country. We are currently paying the lion's share of our health care dollars to the insurance industry. Until that changes, health care will only be accessible to the few privileged members of society.
I think it is a fantastic step forward. Just because some parents can't afford healthcare for their kids doesn't mean that their children don't deserve care that is equal to kids with rich parents.
I don't make any money being a stay at home mom right now. I am not married but I am with the father of my kids. He is on unemployment, making $300 a week. As a family of 5, both he and I make too much money to get health insurance through the state.
