Gathering For Jesus

When it comes to faith, I'm a simple person.  I believe Jesus is my saviour.  The journey to this realization was very long for me.  I experienced several other religions and practices along the way so I am also compassionate to other viewpoints.

Today several things happened that made it clear I was supposed to be sharing my love of Jesus with others.  After my interesting afternoon out, I read a few posts about blessings and religion here on Gather.  I decided to start a group called Gathering 4 Jesus and hope you will join me.

The group is not about preaching or fire and brimstone.  It's for people of all faiths and backgrounds who believe in Jesus or who are curious about Him and His believers.  As I indicated earlier, I am familiar with many other religions and welcome all commentary.  This is not about judgments, it's about sharing and learning.

While all comments are welcome, I am only looking for posts that focus on Jesus, His teachings and His role in your life as the purpose to to learn about Him.  Perhaps this will inspire those with other beliefs to start groups focusing on them so we all have a greater understand of faith, hope and love.

My future posts about Jesus and faith will only be made to this group as I don't want to show disrespect to people in other groups who may not have these beliefs.

THat is so awesome. I think it is great to see people being upfront with their religion. Whatever someone's beliefs are they should feel comfortable to share them.

I'll have to look into your group! My 5-year-old has been asking lots of question about Jesus lately and it has really helped me to break it down to the simple things! I like it simple!

The problem with being "compassionate" to other beliefs is that Jesus said HE is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that no man cometh unto the Father, but by Him !"

How can you be "compassionate to other beliefs" and call yourself a Christian (which is what you say you are if you say you follow Jesus).

compassion - sympathetic feeling; pity; mercy.

We must have mercy for each other regardless of our differences if we are indeed Christian. Jesus asks us to love and forgive. Judgment is reserved for God alone.

Well I know jesus I'm one of his living mircles, I was hit by a drunk driver in 1996 and they told my husband not ro race to buffalo they could not say I would be alive when he got there I was in erie medical center for 50 some days it happen nov. 7 at 1:30 pm I got to come home christmas eve. I was in a coma and it was a night mare and my family made some problems but my and my husband stuck threw it we went threw our wedding vows before we was even legally married. I have some problems to my right side but at least my children have there mother at the time I only had 2 that do not belong to my husband but he has raised them as his own. I was raised in the faith by my grandparents but I strayed but after my this all happened I came back.

I applaud your faith. I too am a Christian, but my purpose on Gather is simply not religious except for my continual thankfulness to God in guiding my writings. (I also say 4 letter words sometimes like like, love, still, calm, neat, swell, etc. Christians who do not keep what Jesus called the two parts of the whole of the Commandments might not like these words when talking about social issues). Church is for worship not politics!!!

I have walked down some paths before leading me back home to security and salvation of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I shy away from zealots as their zeal often appear judgmental and intolerant of other belief systems.

I think I can be a Christian and still find compassion and truth in other faith's spiritual tenets. We are ALL God's children and his vast display of diversity is beautiful to behold.
