Lining Fabulously came up with idea to post our New Year's Resolution, and we could win a box of Nabisco Oreo Mini Cakesters. I was happy I won a box. They are great. My resolution was to quit smoking. I must. I have to. I want to. Every reason for quitting, lungs, overall health, teeth discoleration, smell, (house and your and your hair and your clothes) public opion, and on and on I use on myelf on daily basis.
I take full advantage, when my time, and Kim Simpson's time allows, in utilizing every trick and suggestion she has to be able to keep my resolution, or at least NOT give up and keep trying. I cannot tell you what a help, if you are serious, our various lifestyle groups really are. I love "Living Fabulously," and the great things to do and learn, while sharing with other members Stefani Plum comes up with. You have to admit, the Gather staff really does do very good by us..
So I was happy to win this box of Oreo Cakesters. Glad to see it come in the mail. I have had trouble with eating more of anything as I cut down on my smoking..I try to keep fruit and yogurt, high energy snacks, and anything I can think of around to keep from trading one vice for another. I could not whip the need and strong desire for something sweet the more cigarettes I did not smoke..AHA! Now I have something delicious, chocolatey, (my one strongest craving is for chocolate) and it only has 100 calories per pack.
Now granted they are small, but so are Dove chocolates. Let me tell you a little about them..First, they are bite size. They are really dark, and they smell great. Just like a cakey chocolate snack should. But the best thing about them, they are soooo good! When I opened the first package, and there were three cakes to a wrapper, I got a whiff of my favorite thing. I looked at them and frowned and thought, this is too little and I will not be satisfied..Not happy with them already, secretly trying to find a way to get back to smoking, and not gain weight.
The trick I noticed, for us adults, is to INDULGE ourselves with the taste and texture. Take our time in eating them.. Enjoy them, they have a great "melt in the mouth" way about them..They are really good. And if you place one in your mouth, the first thought is "these are just gonna taste like "a little dry cakey chocolate thingy that you must endure to have your "cake and eat it too" to get the taste of chocolate in satisfying way. Not so..
If you hold them in your mouth a few seconds, they melt to this great velvety state that is pure chocolate bliss when nothing but dark chocolate flavor will do.The best thing is that after you eat the three in the wrap, you ARE satisfied!! And you have only consumed 100 calories. Sweet sensuous chocolate, that is not that loaded with calories, that can fit in your purse for when you are out and that craving no matter what you are giving up, or if you trying stick to a diet, they are perfect. Just the right amount.
My 19 year old grandson let the big eater in him rule all of his early childhood, and most of his high school days. He had a 38' waist at age fourteen. He worked hard, on his own, and now is slim and trim. I had him taste them, and he said, "These are good Grandma, and I do not have to load up to get rid of my craving for sweets. Man, they go down good! I can take these to school in my book bag, and when I am tired of the salad, baked meat and low cal stuff, full of fruit and ready to binge, I think these will do the trick.." Now that is an endorsement from a cutie pie who endured all you can think of from the struggle to not eat, learn how to exercise, right down to being made fun of that any of us could ask for. Perfect for after school if they need sweets, are tired of the muffin and fruit deal, and it will not spoil dinner..
These little cakes are gonna be on my shopping list..I am very happy I got to test them this way, thru the comment.. I love the taste, the idea that I am being bad, but very good at the same time, and they taste way better than a cigarette. Thumbs up for me!!
One more thing, my daughter who is almost forty, and has always been thin, has noticed her metabolism changing. She is very weight conscience. She wants to throw them in her bag to stop those quick fixes she gets for energy on her job at fast food, or at the gas stations.. There you go ladies.. A velvety, tiny snack that is good to eat slow, each one, and we will not mess up our goals, whatever they may be.. And going back to fruit and whatever we are doing to be healthy, will be a little easier to bear, knowing we can "fudge" just a little, and not hate ourselves.. Get some and enjoy!

As an ex-smoker, I sympathize with your plight. You hang in there girlfriend!
These 100 calorie snack packages are a good idea, although small, they sate my appetite for a quick snack. I have not tried the Oreo yet. I usually can control my cravings, but at night sometimes I want salty or sweet. These do the trick without ruining my calorie count for the whole day. For salty cravings I suggest the cheese its, the other cheese cracker is not very good. Also, the Grasshoppers and Chips Ahoy are great for the sweet or chocolate cravings.
