I got lucky!
Friday turned out to be a good day for an amateur photographer like me. Richard had taken a four day weekend in anticipation of the Superbowl weekend party. We decided to seize the opportunity and lolly gag on Friday afternoon.
We ate at his favorite seafood restaurant by the beach and fortified with a couple of Mojitos we braved a walk on the windy and unusually cold Reddington Beach.
This guy looked really cold - flying his kite.

We were glad for our windbreakers and headed toward the old boardwalk.
No, this isn't us:)

We've walked on Reddington Beach before, but this was the first time we saw this many birds.

It was a regular bird convention.

Even the pelicans were there and didn't mind having their picture taken.

Look at this guy in the front of the picture - isn't he cool?

The nice thing about days like this is that you have the beach pretty much all to yourself.
The cold didn't keep these kids from having fun at the beach. But I can tell you Mom was ready to pack it up:)

One of my favorite shots, because of the wave action, their interaction and the reflection in the water, not to mention the seagull placed itself in the corner:)
These two pelicans were caught up in their own little world.

I gave my camera a workout and tried for a close-up.

The sun was about to set and cast a golden glow on everything.

On the way back we met this fellow, you may remember him from my entry into Marianne R."s new photo group "Snap Happy", the beach theme challenge. (This is a slightly different shot of course).
A photo opportunity too cool to pass up.

The tide is starting to come in.
I've always thought that early morning and early evening
are the most magical times in nature.

A lonely seagull watching us from it's post.

Almost sunset.....

Before we headed home we had a cup of coffee at this beachside cafe to warm up the old bones.
Love their coffee:)

Thanks for joining us on this rather cold and blustery walk on the beach!
It's back in the seventies today, but it was in the fifties on that day. Add the windchill factor and it was bada** cold for Florida.
Hope y'all had a wonderful weekend!

All the photos are wonderful and my favorite is the one you said was yours...the reflection in the wet sand is outstanding ;-)
Thank you!
Lollygagging is one of my favorite things in the world.
Blessings and best wishes - S.
That guy with the sea gulls reminds me of the movie "The Birds". :-)
Wouldn't ya know I was down there during the entire cold spell. Fortunately, I was there an extra 9 days after it too.
I think you are on the west side if I'm not mistaken..........yes? I was on the east coast.
