I inherited one of those huge screens that my son bought when he still lived at home, so I still have it until he has an apartment or a home of his own with a room to accommodate it. I almost never use it unless I rent a movie.
I have two old TVs with about 20 inch screens. They are the CRT type, so they seem bigger than they actually are. I think they're fine since most of the time I am looking at the computer and not the TV.
Cute! I bought a 720p 37" about a year ago (Black Friday '07) for $400.00 + tax. Fits our "entertainment center" perfectly, and seems to be just about right for the room. Big's fine, but overwhelming is just... overwhelming.
You'll have to check out my article about saving on electricity. It mentions how much power one of those big monster TV's draws when it is at rest. You'll drop your teeth!

Send it to Sony or one of the other companies. If they like it and use it as a jingle they might give you a theatre sized tv. lol
