Up Against My Will
Once I watched the moon
Rise and set,
And you can just bet
If I saw the sun, it was only done
On occasion.
Then came the storm,
No heat, no light,
No way to stay awake at night,
So I went to bed, instead
Keeping warm.
Now it’s back, all that power
And I can write
And read all night,
But, it messed up my head, I go to bed
At 8pm, on the hour.
Insomnia; I want it back!
The daylight’s boring;
I should be snoring!
When the sun is high in the bright blue sky,
I want to yell, “Paint it black”!

But it took weeks to get over the weirdness of thinking : waking up in the middle of the night thinking it had gone off again, the exhaustion, the overreaction when I heard a tree crack, or the lights flickered, - hope you feel "normal" :) soonest.........
I still feel weird - I have a thousand things to do, but no energy. Loss of electrons, I think.
And there IS that recurring evidence in scientific journals that artificial light is actually BAD for you! (I will find a link.)
More dear to me than the Morning Star
A Hersey Bar
A Packard Car
something something Bride in all her adorning
Is to lie in bed in the morning
And might I add, noon and night. I meet the most fascinating people in my dreams.
“Dearer to me than the evening star
A Packard car
A Hershey bar
Or a bride in her rich adorning
Dearer than any of these by far
Is to lie in bed in the morning.” - Jean Kerr
