Buck's Pocket State Park, North Alabama .... A Photo Essay February 2009

Buck's Pocket State Park is a rocky steep scenic gorge with rapids that run through. You can hike, picnic, ride horses, camp, even rappel, ...or just leisurely take in the dramatic scenic vista from the Jim Lynn Overlook. At the bottom of  the gorge in the summer it stays a little cooler..making it delightful for hikes along the water...or a cool swim,fishing and Picnic in the campgrounds. Oh, did I mention you may camp with water and electricity provided at each site ($12 a day for a site) and that 5 camp sites offer free Internet? There is a Park Manager on duty and the station has washer, dryers and bathrooms with clean showers, a playground and pavilion.

                                          

 

Yes a house "Living on the edge",,,hope they don't have kids....

I haven't camped in a while..every time my husband says "Let's go Camping" that I put his sleeping bag on the deck and cuddle up...when he goes to sleep I go back to my comfy bed..lol
On our Honey moon we camped most of 2 weeks in Yellowstone...

My husband and I love camping. Every summer our vacations are usually at a campground. This would be a nice place to go. But I'm not sure I like the fact that they have internet available. The reason we like camping is to get away from technology!

nice variety to showcase this place....Internet while camping?.....been awhile since i went camping,but we usually backpacked into areas to avoid others.....but even what we call "car camps" where there are restroom bldgs., that IS the only modern convenience offered.....

wish the dog with red BG was facing forward, but still the clarity n' contrasting colors make it very appealing.....fine essay!

Phil, I use a canon 30 D..with a variety of lens a 17/55 2.8, and a 70/200 2.8 being my favored
