CROSS-EYED LOVE
Their eyes met suddenly
and passion overtook them.
They rushed toward each other
dodging through the crowded room.
Yet, their eyes never leave the other’s,
intent on reaching their anticipated goal.
It seemed an eternity
just to cross a simple room.
As they drew closer,
the excitement in them rose.
But suddenly, she moves left
and he moves to her right.
Unexpectedly, they pass,
meeting up with other mates.
What is this I see?
As I look closely,
the problem becomes clear.
All four unsuspecting souls
are cross-eyed and
can’t see straight ahead.
Just think how differently
things would have been
if they had seen what I had seen?
Oh, well!
