I would love hardwood floors but can't have them because of my daughter's difficulty with walking.....we have to have carpet and no throw rugs.

depends on the room..no carpet in Kitchen or bath..love wood though out house with orientals scattered where needed

Now that I have hard wood floors I like them. I never thought I would though. I still like carpet in the bedroom though.

I love the look or hardwood.
This has changed for me over the years. When younger, I just loved carpeting. Thick, lush, wall to wall.
Older now, give me the hardword and/or ceramic tile all the time. Less allergies, and lets' not mention the vacuuming, which I HATE.

I would also love to have hardwood floors, but I live in an apartment and I have no choice except to have carpet. The floors underneath weren't designed to be exposed.

Hardwood. You don't have to invest in carpet cleaner with floors . Seem like the more you shampoo your carpet, the spots keeps appearing.

Hardwood for me. My son has dust allergies so we had to tear out all of the carpet in my house. You wouldn't believe the amount of dust in the padding under the carpet, yuck!

Definitely hardwood floors. Which I am lucky to have because I live in a big farm house that has all hardwood floors.

Went back to original hardwood under the carpet. Gets the same amount of dust, just a different tool to clean it. And you can't SLIDE on carpet! Woo Hoo.

I've had both, but I personally prefer carpet. Hardwood floors just show more dirt and get dirtier quicker. Then again, some dirt is harder to get off carpets.

I agree with Jody!! (All about the hard wood)...ok, that sounds perverted..but hey!
I prefer hardwood in the mainr ooms but carpet in the bedrooms...what I have is cermaic tile in the main rooms and carpet in the bedrooms.....maybe one day.

Both of my boys and me have asthma, so it would definitely be hardwood floors. We have tile all over, which is very normal for South Florida as it helps keep the house cold.

At the first house we owned, we had beautiful hardwood floors that I loved to wax!!
I prefer tile over wax or carpet..easier to keep clean.

Hardwood floors, they're easier to clean. And you can always put a rug over them if you change your mind.
