S is for Spider -- (photos) Zoomit

S is for Spider....and not any old spider either....

This is a garden spider that was building it's web in a friend's yard. I thought it would be more interesting for you to see both sides of her. And yes, this is a pretty good size spider.

 I just enlarged them here on Gather (didn't know I could do that when putting photos in essays.), so I hope it isn't pixalated.

Can you see her spinerettes and the silk coming out? All those little hairs on her legs are very sensitive...she feels any vibration of the web, no matter how minor. She got spooked and hid when Mike came up to see what I was photographing. (This was taken in Oct).

those are excellent shots.... I tried to take some of spiders on my deck last summer (before Ross got his new job and sprayed) but never managed a good one.

This looks like one we had in our yard. It was huge. Scared the living daylights out of me. Then we took a tour at Reelfoot Lake and spiders were on exhibition. Said it wasn't a dangerous spider. Great picture, Jax.

Beautiful macros, JAX. My younger daughter doesn't like spiders in that they bite her but she does not harm them--if she finds a spider inside she carries it outside and releases it!

Great Pic, but I am one of those that does not like spiders. Victoria is always posting pics of spiders and they just creep me out. But, if a spider was pretty, with all the color on this one it would be pretty I guess.
