From WorldNetDaily.com and CFIF.com:
Are Republican Senators rolling over and playing dead? Are they "compromising" on the Obama-Pelosi so-called "stimulus" bill and essentially giving President Obama and extreme liberals in Congress EXACTLY what they want?
Unless you drive the message home, RIGHT NOW, the answer may unfortunately be "YES."
You know what we're talking about.
We're talking about the bill that radio host Sean Hannity calls the "European Socialist Act of 2009" or "The End Capitalism As We Know It Act of 2009."
We're talking about the bill that we call the "Obama-Pelosi Theft Act of 2009."
We're talking about BILLIONS of dollars in taxpayer-funded "payoffs" to groups like ACORN (ACORN should be INDICTED, not REWARDED).
We're talking about potentially HUGE PAYOFFS to BIG LABOR!
We're talking about a massive government boondoggle that will saddle your children and your grandchildren with a debt they CANNOT ever hope to pay! We're talking about plans to hijack their future... all in the name of advancing SOCIALISM!
In reality, the above descriptions don't do justice to the Obama-Pelosi Theft Act of 2009! To speak frankly, this so-called "stimulus bill" (which has nothing to do with stimulating the economy and has everything to do with pork and payoffs to liberal special interests) is just PLAIN EVIL!
But there is hope. Make no mistake, Congress IS hearing you loud and clear. Because of your actions, our elected officials now know that the American people oppose this Obama-Pelosi Theft Act of 2009.
But they have NOT totally gotten the message. Instead of scrapping this evil bill, in typical fashion, they're trying to tinker with it... hoping to make it better by amending it here and amending it there.
That's NOT what the American people want. The American people DON'T want this evil bill "fixed." The American people want this evil bill DEAD... PERIOD... END OF SENTENCE!
Republican Senators should know better! Putting lipstick on this pig of a bill is NOT going to make it any less socialist... any less egregious... any more palatable to the American people.
Our elected officials need to hear from you RIGHT NOW.
Yours In Freedom,
Jeff Mazzella
President

Could it be that there is hardly a rational sentence in the whole thing? ... Could be.
Marilyn, any spending bill is a stimulus package. The stimulus depends on who gets the money. If the rich get the money the rest of us get no stimulus. (See the last Administration's policies for that one.) If the poor get the money we all get to share in the wealth so generated. The Republican Party has been feeding you a line to justify giving your money to the rich. You seem to have believed them. Can you explain why any smart rich investor would hire people to produce some consumer product in today's economy? What if you gave him $1,000,000? Would she invest it then? Make that $1,000,000,000. What investments would that billionaire make then? That's right, the rich already have that much money and they are not hiring more people they are firing people. So how does a tax cut for the rich help solve the problem?
By the way Marilyn, the latest news is that Steele has fired about 100 staff members of the Republican National Committee in a move to reshape the party. It will be interesting to watch Steele and whether or not he will provide guidance and leadership to the Republican party.

"U.S. Senate reaches deal on stimulus bill
The Democratic-led U.S. Senate on Friday reached a deal on a $780 billion (528 billion pound) stimulus package to stem a deepening recession, a potentially big win for President Barack Obama but undercut by his inability to draw much Republican support."

This is around what the original bill wanted. The article, of course, lies and says that the original bill was at $937 billion. No, the Democrats kept adding than brought it back down today to where it was when they started their' money pit drive.
Schiff scoffs at the notion the economic decline is starting to level off and concedes no government action means a "terrible" recession. But the path of increased government intervention will lead to "unmitigated disaster," says Schiff, who gained notoriety in 2007-08 for his prescient calls on the housing bubble and U.S. stocks.
The problem, he says, is the government is trying to perpetuate a "phony economy" based on borrowing and spending. With the U.S. consumer tapped out, the government is "now taking on the mantle" of consumer of last resort, he continues, predicting the bond bubble will soon burst - if it hasn't already - ultimately leading to a collapse of the dollar and an "inflationary depression worse than anything any of us have ever seen."
If nothing else, Schiff is an nonpartisan critic of American policymakers, comparing President Bush to Herbert Hoover and President Obama to FDR, and neither in a favorable way."

As news filtered through the media that a "deal" had been cut with the defecting GOP Senators — giving Democrats the 60-plus votes they need to overcome a Republican filibuster — Republican officials and pundits expressed outrage.
The bolting senators cited soaring unemployment numbers, the country's worsening recession and the fact they cut about $100 billion off of the Senate Democrats' proposed plan as key factors for their decision to betray the GOP Senate caucus to join with the Democrats.
But critics note that the Democratic "compromise" plan comes in at $827 billion — $8 billion more in spending than the already bloated House bill that called for $819 billion in new spending. They also note the so-called stimulus bill offers little immediate relief to the economy. According to a Congressional Budget Office report issued last week, only a fraction of the stimulus will be spent in 2009.
Though weekends are noted for slow news cycles, Collins, Snowe, and Specter already are finding they are under hostile fire, lambasted on conservative Web sites throughout the weekend and the subjects of angry calls by many of their constituents, according to reports.
“Arlen Specter is DONE,” wrote a blogger named steelfish on the FreeRepublic Web site. “He won his last primary by less than 1 percent against a real conservative of Pat Toomey. And only because the President Bush came to PA and campaigned for him. He is DONE.”
Specter is up for re-election in 2010. Washington Republican strategists tell Newsmax this weekend that Specter's defection has sealed the deal: he will face a primary for the GOP nomination.
"We don't care if we lose the Pennsylvania Senate seat to the Democrats," one Washington strategist told Newsmax. "Better to remove Fifth columnists from the party."

Just this afternoon I saw Susan Collin say that if it was over 8 million she would not vote for the bill...maybe, she forgot.
"Sen. John McCain is firing back at President Barack Obama after Republicans were mocked by the president last week for their resistance to the huge spending in the stimulus package.
“What do you think a stimulus is? That’s the whole point,’’ Obama said in a fiery speech to House Democrats Thursday night. “No, seriously, that’s the point.”
Now McCain is explaining what the “whole point” is.
“The whole point, Mr. President, is to enact tax cuts and spending measures that truly stimulate the economy,” McCain said during a Senate speech Friday. “There are billions and tens of billions of dollars in this bill which will have no effect within three, four, five or more years, or ever. Or ever.”
Two months after his defeat in the presidential elections, McCain has slowly emerged as a leading opponent of the Senate Democratic plan, which is currently priced at $827 billion. He’s been particularly vocal about Obama’s attempts at bipartisanship.
"This agreement is not bipartisan," Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told CBS' "Face the Nation,’’ referring to the Senate agreement on the stimulus reached with the help of three Republican senators this weekend.
"I've been in bipartisan agreements, many. This is three Republican senators. Every Republican congressman voted against it in the House, plus Democrats. And all but three Republicans stayed together on this. That's not bipartisanship. That's just picking off a couple of senators," McCain said.
McCain has targeted an array of programs that he said were not needed in an emergency economic recovery package.
“$50 million in funding for the National Endowment for the Arts — all of us are for the arts,” McCain said."
