No... I really mean it! I watched the White House Press Briefing today... and it wasn't pretty.
I believe Obama was sincere when he said he wanted a STIMULUS package and I believe he was sincere when he said he wanted it ready in the first few days of his Presidency. But things have gone "out of control"... and with little time/experience under his belt... Obams is left with a considerable dilemma.
the first sign that Obama was distancing himself from the stimulus/spending package came when Obama meet with the House Republicans prior to the vote on HR1. He made it clear that he had "no pride in authorship" for the bill and the bill was clearly the House's bill.
Then today, Gibbs made it very clear that there was a very distinct difference between the White House and what was happening with the bill in the Senate. He had a very "hands off". distancing stance.
Don't get me wrong... Gibbs was very, well, "politically correct" in the way he spoke, but I was left with the sense that what Obama expected/asked for... wasn't what Obama was getting from the Representatives and Senators.
Gibbs made it clear that Obama tasked the Congress to provide a job/stimulus package in the range of the mid $600B to mid $700B range.... but Gibbs carefully skirted issue on whether or not that was happening.
Gibbs was very, very careful in the way he spoke... but as usual, what isn't being said is just as powerful, if not more so.. than what is said!
Will Obama veto a bill over-laden with pork that doesn't fall in-line with his agenda? No way. He has too much at stake politically to veto ANY stimulus.... But how all of this plays out in the future will be interesting.... to say the least!

There is an old saying, "you reap what you sow", well Berry is now reapping what he helped sow.
It's sad but we will get no real action until things get quite a bit more desperate. But that's coming as well. :-(
Yeah...bankrupting the country, just like he did the state of Texas!
