With Valentine's day coming up, You may have noticed that I made an abstract painting I did a long time ago (about 10-12 years) that looks like a heart as my icon. This painting was one of many, many, abstract paintings that I did during a five year weekly session with a number of friends. We were studying what it means to paint without expectation, without the domination of our ordinary mind. Or putting it another way, what it means to paint from feeling, which also seems topical for Valentine's day.
All of my paintings were named afterwards because I didn't usually know what it looked like until after it was finished. This was true of the painting that looks like a heart - I saw the heart only after it was completely finished! This happened with other paintings as well, such as "redhead" and "in flight".
I've put a few of the paintings here, more in a photo album. By the way, as I have probably mentioned before, I make greeting cards from many of my paintings (including "heart emerged") which you can find on my web site.

"Redhead"

"In Flight"

"True Happiness" (because I suddenly felt very, very happy while painting this picture.
