I don't know about anybody else, but I hate using the dryer. Every time I empty the lint trap I can see my clothes going in the garbage. So this year I invested in 2 drying racks and have been using them to dry our clothes. It takes a little longer to dry, but I try to do 1 load a day and I keep up pretty well. I use the outside clothesline in the summer so I thought why not try this in the winter.
One obvious benefit will be decreased electric bill from not running the dryer. But the other benefit I am finding is that it puts some humidity back into the house and we are using the humidifier less, which is also saving electricity. I don't know how much we are saving exactly, but I figure the drying racks (about $10 each) should be paid for by the end of the winter and I will be able to use them for years to come.
Hope this idea helps someone.
