In the early 1970s, I was going into tenth grade, this boy I didn't know very well who was a senior asked me to a movie. I was shy and so was he. It was embarrassing enough that the movie was "Deliverance", we didn't know anything about it before hand. He did the lame stretch and put his arm around me, I leaned forward in my seat. Well, I had had my leg in a strange position and I didn't realize it had fallen asleep. When the movie got over, when I stood up, my leg gave out and I fell flat on my face in the aisle. Nope, we didn't have another date.
Well most won't remember in the 50s when we girls wore can cans and sometimes hoops under our skirts, but I went on a date and wore a hoop under a full skirt and when I got into his car and sat down my hoop lifted my skirt over my head, well almost. It was a first date so that was embarassing.
=D lol 8th grade~Alan and I were bestest buds for years and we had this terribly stupid idea to try dating since we got along so awesomely tearing down hills on bikes with dismantled breaks and beating the heck out of each other while watching Saturday morning wrestling (I was always Bob Backlund, he wanted to be Andre the Giant lol). SO we went to Greasy Tony's for cheesesteaks and chessy fries and chocolate milkshakes and then we just kind of looked at each other and were extremely fidgety. Anyhow at the end of the 'date' we kissed and I just got the most horrendous case of the giggles. He was highly insulted for about a minute before he joined me in the guffaws. We were too young and too silly and preferred leg locks over lip locks any day ;) Now as for the leash incident many years later, um, never mind ;)
Back in Jr. High School, I managed to really mess up and ended up with two dates for the annual school dance. Most terrible moment of my life was trying to explain to both girls how that happened. Ever try dancing with two girls?
I don't truly have one except for... On our very first date my boyfriend(now hubby), I gave him the wrong directions! I told him to turn right when he should have turned left. He found my home though, thankfully. And, we laughed about it later.
Sometimes when Walker and I go out with my mother and step-dad, people get us mixed up. Dave is a great deal younger than Mom (well only 12 years, but still....) and Walker is actually 3 years older than my mother and....well people think she's with him and I'm with Dave. haha People have nearly fallen off of their chairs, when they've figured out the truth.
We met under odd circumstances, so our first "date" was him driving me "home" from the airport. LOL Anyway, that night we got home and things were starting to get "hot" in the house. Just as they were about to get REALLY HOT, his @#$%ing EX-WIFE called! LOL
Didn't ruin the mood, though. I hadn't flown 2,500 miles to have an ex-wife create the cold-shower effect. LOL
hmm, the oddest thing I can remember was when I had to break up with a guy in high school. It was just too far when neither of us drove. After I broke up with him, he kissed me for the first time before I left...LOL
Better to say, the moment I NEVER had, even though I hoped for... it took quite a time to recover from this, but now I believe that the true magic is still waiting for me ahead! :-)
I'll give you the one I can write about. My boyfriend and I went to the drive in and had quite a few cocktails. He had a pinto hatchback and always backed it in so we could hang out in the back of the car and watch out the back window. Well, we had too much to drink and ended up falling asleep. We woke up at 3am, the car was covered in snow and all the gates were locked! We were stuck in there until maintenance showed up the next morning. Yeah, try explaining that to mom and dad when you are 17! One other time, different guy. I met up with him at a bar. We didn't go there together, but I always had a crush on him. His family had money and he drove this really nice car. Well, we drank all night, shots of Jagger, we were toasted, I was already ditched by my girlfriends at that point. He drove me home and I threw up in his car! He took it pretty well actually and we sat on the curb outside my house talking for awhile, and then he tried to KISS ME! WTF? LOL
Although, I have had several, I am trying hard to NOT think about them. Most of them are really pretty mild. I went to the drive-in once to a decent show that turned out to be a double feature. I was aggravated when the car wouldn't crank when the first movie was over, but I wanted to find a hole to crawl in when the second movie started. It was way too "mature" for my age.
