since I was in California for two weeks, I'd asked the post office to hold my mail. The manager had given me the phone number to this branch, so I can be sure the mail is ready for me when I arrive.
The letter carrier who'd delivered my mail (and my parents' mail when they were still in NYC) for over 25 years, just retired and there is a new letter carrier. Seems as if she never noticed the "hold" since my mailbox was chock full! And full with pink slips of package at post office.
Some of the books came to my grown up name, others (from another account with bookmooch) came to my kiddie name - which, of course, I do NOT have an ID for... oops. (I changed it on bookmooch today.) I've become such a regular that the clerk knew me well enough to let me have both stacks of books!
There were almost 15 books! I had a tote bag with me, but it wasn't large enough. I thought I'd have to carry the overflow in my arms. When I was standing on line to mail out the three I had to send, a woman was at the window having mailed out some packages herself. AND she had a huge plastic bag with her. Which she sweetly gave to me when I asked for it! Cooperation is GOOD.
Normally I walk from the post office, but carrying 15 books!!! NO WAY.
I saw we have a new policeman (is there such a word as policechild???) in the neighborhood. I doubt he even shaves!! I called another woman's attention to him. We both agreed he seems awfully young for such a job! I could be his grandmother!

One of my favorite thrift shops had a book sale recently. Books 10 cents each.
I only bought 10.
But they were huge 700 to 1000 pagers, my friend had to help get them to the car.
To uphold my "Don't let my books bury me" policy I had to remove 10 books from my house to the car to be dropped of at a thrift shop on my next trip to town.
Weight lifting, and aerobics with weights.
And to think, reading is considered to be a non-physical activity.
it will be 50 this weekend here how depressing it is
