Would you let your child miss 1 day of school to go to Disneyland for the first time?

If your child was a good student, had not missed any school, would you let them miss one day of school so you could take them to Disneyland for the first time?

Disneyland is always busy but from past experience, they are even busier on the weekends, during spring break and in the summer. Plus if we go on March 19th, my friend gets in for free since it is her birthday and we signed up for that. We don't have all the money yet, I'm working hard to earn it on Gather and writing articles at AC.

 

We don't know for sure when we are going. But what do you think about your child missing one day of school to do a once in a great while t hing such as disneyland?

i think i would let her miss one day. i mean its just one day. and i would have her promise to ask classmates about what she has missed and just let her study things that she missed this day. i dont think its a big deal missing one day of school

Heavens YES.......when Adam was little, we took him to Disney World maybe 6 or 7 different times......every time, we pulled him out of school......he was always a very good student, I always spoke to the teachers ahead of time and he'd have his work all made up, so there never was any problem or any questions asked. So, actually Adam missed quite a few days because of all the Disney trips years ago. Good luck.....I'd make sure to talk to the teacher ahead of time, though.

I sure would. If she is a good student one day it is not going to hurt her to miss it. Sometimes we just need to drop everything and do somthing fun. That is what makes life worth living.

I have let my daughter miss for things that have to deal with Church to go on events there so I might do it for something like this
Abosolutely! Heck, we've been known to let ours miss just for snuggle days! And trailrides.....so yep, I'd let mine stay out for something as great as Disney in a heartbeat.

without hesitation. Kids are all about learning and living - through their experiences. Nothing's going to happen in that day or even a week of school that is going to stick with them the way something like this would.

Definitely, some people pull them out for the whole week. When my kids were younger the teacher gave them assignments to complete on vacation to count as credit for the time they missed. It was an excusable absence in those days, not so sure now.

YESSSSsssssssssssss without thinking about it last year we where dying to go to the beach and my son missed one day of school and he had a blast came back to school with a TAN lol!

Yup, DD misses almost a week every year to go to Disney world. School is important but so is the famly time and she makes up the work when we get back!

parent's vacation don't always coincide with kids vacation. Some people have certian weeks in the year they can take vacation. Like my sister in law. The don't coincide with the school vacation.

One day yes....my friend just let her son stay out of school for 4 to go to Disney. He now has 4 F's on his report card.....I think Disney should be earned. I think if a child is failing you shouldn't keep him out of school.

I have no children.
However, my mom let me miss school on occasion for fun stuff like that. She really stressed how important it is to enjoy life and take advantage of opportunities to have fun-- within reason and without sacrificing necessary things, of course. It's a lesson that I truly believe has led me to live a happier life.

The problem with waiting til school vacations is that EVERYONE goes during those school vacations, and you don't get to see much - all you do is wait in line. Trust me -- The kids don't miss much in one week of school, let alone one day.

yes I would, because why go when they are on vacation and it's packed, I rather go on a off time when the kids are still in school and have my kid miss oneday at school. when it get's packed at Disneyland sometimes they don't let anyone else in, and they tell you I'm sorry but we are full. It has happen to us, we went on vacation when the kids where all out and went to disneyland and the park was already full, they told us sorry. That is why when you go in they count how many people go in the park.

I'd take my child out of school and homeschool him then I could take him to Disneyland or anywhere, to have fun, to educate, to learn in freedom. When you take a child out of public school for a day the staff gets angry because they want the 'Average Daily Attendence' ADA money.

Absolutely. We've taken our kids out of school for family vacations. Teachers have sent work for the kids to do during "down time" (which they pretty much did the weekends before and after travel). They never missed a beat.
