Although I do like Edie Brickell's verion I have to go with Bob Dylan on this one.

I can't stand Dylan, so Edie gets this one. He can't sing, has a terrible voice and Edie's much nicer to look at.

Rob I will agree with you that Dylan is a much better songwriter then singer. There are a select few songs of his I like his version better though.

bob! and no, he cant really sing. but he is one of the best songwriters to ever walk this earth. so yeah. ill look for the lyrics not the tone of his voice

I've alwys loved Bob Dylan's raspy voice. He's one of my all time favorite single artists. Bob Dylan would be my choice then.
If I had to choose it would be Bob Dylan, but I really don't care for either one.

I like the second one, it was too long of a song to tolerate Dillons singing. I can take him in small doses, but this was a long one. Yes he is an amazing song writer.

I don't like either vesion here, but my nother had a rare version recorded by the Staple Singers that I loved. Unfortunately the record got lost or broken and I haven't been able to find replacement.

I love Bob's songwriting but I am not wild about his singing. I don't know that I really like Edie on this either. Neither for me tonight.

Yeah Chris!

For those out there that haven't "found" Dylan yet, "Hard Rain" is one of the deepest written lyrics ever in history. It trancends time, and every generation will find a piece of their culture and history in it.

I am much younger than Dylan's kids, and a few years back I gave the "talk" at a high school graduation, I had a hard time not reciting these lyrics word for word. They give such insight into the world.

.."and I'll know my song well before I start singing.."

.... oh, Dylan, another runner up would be that girl in the bar from "Born On The Forth of July"

tough choice, love both of them. Will have to go with Dylan on this one, just because one of my daughters is going to name her first son after him. I wanted my oldest daughter to name her son Jerome after Jerry Garcia but she went with Jeremy instead.
