Stephy started taking dance when she was 2 years old, a week after her 2nd birthday. She has always loved dancing and dance class was always so exciting and special for her.
In June 08' she had her end of the year dance recital. It's always the first weekend in June and then her dance teacher would take the summer off. Well, summer came and went and no news on when dance classes were going to start back up. Stephy kept asking and I kept searching for an answer. Dacne class had always started back up the same week school started.
The first time I called, I left a message. The second time I called, her dance teacher answered the phone and said that she was just running a little behind schedule. After a month of no news, I called again and the phone was disconnected.
:( Very sad
We had known in June that she was going through a divorce after 25 years of marriage. The divorce turned ugly, as many do. As a result, Stephy's dance teacher packed up and moved to Boise.
I've been looking for a new dance class for Stephy since November. I had found two places: one was very expensive - about 2x what I was paying before. The other had a dress code, all the dancers had to wear "uniforms" at each practice - not my thing.
Well, last week I was looking through our local paper and found another class I hadn't seen before! She's located about 8 miles north of us, she used to be a choreographer for Disney and has 20 years experience. And her classes are $5 a month LESS that what we were paying before.
Stephy has her first class this afternoon at 12:45 and she's SO excited! SO EXCITED that she couldn't get to sleep last night and I had a hard time waking her up this morning so we could take Chandler to school. She didn't fall asleep until after 11:00 last night, little stinker!

I know there are a few other places in the area and now it is a matter of having the money and finding the right place so that at least Amara can dance!
She does wear the proper "outift" for class. She wears her hair up, tights and a leaotard with the right shoes! I didn't like the fact that during class/practice this particular teacher wanted ALL the kids to wear a specific outfit, all matching.
During the recitals/shows, I totally understand the matching outfits but not during practice! But that's jjust me! :)
Now for other dance areas, like tap or jazz, the kids just wear dance attire. The kids choose what they wear...no set rules except for the shoes.
It is normal for ballerinas to wear a standard "uniform" in dance class, though.
