Photos I took while exploring the Ellensburg in late winter.
I always go to one of the ponds for a nice nature walk. And on this day I was looking for signs of life in preparation of Spring. The following photos were taken at Frito Rito on the second. Frito Rito is a large man made pond that can be seen off the freeway that goes to Yakima. It's a popular place for the fishing, and camping.

Taking a closer look, here is a shot of last years grass.

I spotted two male Red Winged Blackbirds at the pond . I love their song it reminds me of an old time telephones ring. Returning early before Spring and before the females these two will soon be staking out territories.

There were ducks on the water. I hadn't noticed these ducks all winter.

I even spotted new growth along the shore line. I placed a red circle around it so it can be more easily seen.

Now for my home on the third. Some new growth in my flower box by my front porch.

Tulips pushing their way through the soil. These will bloom in early May.

Just a frosty reminder that it is still winter. This mornings frost on my yew.

2 cameras were used for these photos
