The Obama Media Blitz...coming to your living room

Thanks for the link, Jared. Obama said he would be more open and talk to the American people, and he's definitely doing that. Now all we have to do is start listening and thinking.

This is going to be interesting because I've received at least one e-mail from President Obama on this. He's using some of that community organizing skill that GOP made fun of on the net now as President. It should be interesting in that's what Obama is doing on the net has never been done before.

That's right David. Listen and think. Can't allow all the noise to manipulate your thought process. So far the alternative I hear is do nothing or cut taxes to people who no longer have jobs to pay taxes from.

I want to hear how this money stimulates anything.

The Republicans have a lower approval rating then Former Pres Bush did.

Obama is getting the people on his side. He realizes that is his strenght.

Yeah Lori. Guess who is being hurt right now. Obama has 75% approval rating, republican congress 24%. All he needs to do is talk to America. If they don't pass this bill and the economy tanks, the blame is on them. If the economy recovers Obama takes all the credit. Sorry, you put yourself in that situation.

I can't help but see the republican resistance as a skipped-meds-temper-tantrum in grade school. They would watch the population go deeper into their sewer just to spite the winners and doers. They are the domestic saboteurs!

What are you hoping Obama says?

What is your honest (informed) opinion of the Senate's version of the bill vs the House bill? Do you see a compromise? What about spending in the bill that is not related to stimulus?

Few could argue that some type of stimulus is needed. But is THIS bill the "answer"... or at least the "best" our elected officials have to offer? If it had been generated in the Republican chamber would you have openly embraced the same bill?

Just for the record.... I'm not a Republican or a Democrat. I'm registered as an Independent. I don't vote party lines, I vote principle.

Obama needs to do something and what he has planned is much better than what the last administration did to us.

What Obama is doing will not cure our problems and many of us older will not live to see the end of this economic recovery but at least Obama is doing what he can to get people back to work and making people feel useful is a big accomplishment and a plus for people that do not want to live on welfare and walk the streets in despair.

Tammy I get what you are saying and I for one did look over the particulars of both bills.

The Republicans are more of the same old same old. This attitude is what got us into this mess.

Obamas may be unconventional but maybe thats what we need right now.

I am not aware of a Senate version as of yet. I read the house version top to bottom.

Let me just say that money for condoms does not stimulate the economy. That's an opinion more than a fact. The bill that will pass will be the best bill they can offer evidently. There is no bill that passes congress that contains some type of pork. Be it Republican congress or Democrat congress. There are a few things that can be eliminated or redirected to somewhere else. I am for all the infrastructure spending. I am for the up to $7,500 tax rebate for all new home buyers. That will increase home sales. We know this whole thing started with the home crisis.

In short the tax cuts only republicans call for is not the answer. Tax cuts on home sales is great. You can't give tax cuts to people who are being laid off. They have no income.

The name "STIMULUS" is a misnomer. This is also a recovery plan as the name indicates. Millions of people lost their jobs. They will need to eat until they find one. The idea that any time we give tax money to people who lose their jobs Rush Limbaugh and people who listen to him will run around and call it a welfare bill with the goal of generating some backlash from those who still have jobs is ludicrous. At some point they need to stop playing games. Hard working people lost their jobs and need WELFARE.

So yeah, we need additional welfare money and this bill provides it.

What is the solution republicans are proposing other than tax cuts?

I don't believe the Democrats hold all of the answers and I don't believe the Republicans do either. I believe the answer... if the real objective is getting an effective STIMULUS package injected into the economy.... is trimming down the package to include ONLY stimulus and not politically motivated pork.

A major issue that needs to be addressed is voter confidence. Bills full of hidden agenda don't increase voter confidence in Washington, it has the reverse effect. There is plenty of time for other legislature... now is the time for stimulus, and only stimulus!

President Obama is upset about that and has asked congressional democrats to get rid of all that junk (hollywood, cigarette cessation, condoms).

Remember, congress drafts bill. Democrats in congress wrote all that junk, not the white house.

The whole process stinks and should be changed. There should be ONE project per Bill and Obama has asked that the housing question be addressed, by itself, instead of mired in a mess of other pet projects and pork projects inserted by those that drafted the circle jerk bill they will now play around with for weeks instead of actually doing SOMETHING to move the economy forward.
They are simply ALL doing exactly what Blago was accused of........... gimme this for that or else I will hold up everything til I get what I want.

Right on APE. Why a package? How about one for energy, one for housing, one for tax cuts, and so? No that would be too many sessions and these guys only work 40 days a year. That way they can smuggle money for condomns and nicorette.
