My husband woke me up at 4:00 am and told me to follow him outside. I thought he was crazy. Then he told me just to trust him and put on my slippers. So out I went and he told me to turn around and look in the neighbor's yard. There were about 14 deer bedded down in their lawn. Several were standing eating off of the cyprus trees and pines back there.
Now that may not be a common site in the country but we live in town. The neighbor's property though is about 4 lots wide in back and 3 lots wide in the front so they have a lot of vegetation and space. It has also been vacant for over 10 years. The light is on in the back of the garage so we could see them pretty well. They didn't move while we watched them at all. They seemed very comfortable.
Adam said he saw them the other day and so did our dog. Thankfully she just sat down, wagged her tail and watched them. He followed their trail a little and they cut across the other yards to head out of town when they are done.
We took pictures but with our regular 35mm. Our digital is just a plain jane one and the pictures just turned out very dark and you couldn't see anything. It was very cool. I went to wake my son up and then realized he as at his dad's. Maybe they will be back.

Yesterday on the way to work I took the back roads. I had three walk out in front of my car. I was far enough away to stop but they just meandered looked at me and then crossed the road...
They are pretty but can be a very dangerous road hazard!
We had 1 deer come by and eat my corn I was growing in my gardens 1 year, but when all of the ears were gone, he stopped coming by for breakfast.........
and I live in a metropolis.........
surrounded by the corn fields of the midwest........
Coll, thanks.
Stopping by from Sharing the Wealth.
I used to see lots of deer when i lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
