Teen charged with aggravated cruelty to animals - Set three cats on fire

Authorities charged a Brooks County teen with aggravated cruelty to animals following the burning death of two cats and the disfiguration of a third.

Brooks County Sheriff Mike Dewey announced on Monday that 17-year-old Cory Ward has been charged with three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Ward is accused in the death of two cats and the disfiguration of a third cat in the area of Eagle Run Trailer Park.

On December 20, 2008, area resident Jim Ragan found two cats that were severely burned.

That's terrible! I feel so sorry for the cats and what they must have gone through. I hope the third baby will be okay. I'm not sure it will trust another human completely and I don't blame it.

I'm not justifying or making excuses for the f'ing ingrate but I think if your going to charge him than you should charge his parent or parents too. This behavior is learned, it's not born in. I think all kids go through a stage where the potential to harm the week is their, weather it is kicking a dog or pulling the wings off of flies or not bothering to feed or water a pet. This is where the vigilant parent steps in and corrects the problem. They take the time to explain how we should protect and defend the week and helpless, how there is shame in the abuse of anyone or anything especially the week. I think all kids are born neutral, like soft clay, and parents have the duty to shape and form it before it sets up. Yes the teen is a monster, by I believe he is a symptom of a much larger problem.

This is the first sign of a sociopath. Sociopaths have no conscious, they understand that what they are doing is wrong, they just don't care. He needs to punished, but he also needs to have a psychological evaluation. If he did this because he is a young sociopath, there is nothing to be done to help him, you can't "grow" a conscious, you either have one or you don't.
Having said all of that, he may have done it because he himself is being abused in some way and needed a way to feel "powerful", in which case what he needs is DEEP psychological counseling.
