I'm so excited, my first woodpecker shot.
Don't ask me what kind, but he's big and has a red crown. He seems to come around every spring. He visited our oak tree last year, wish I'd had my new camera then.
I took the shot set on 'scene' - 'bird watching' and I'm quite pleased with the results. I don't know how 'automatic and zoom' would compare, because I didn't get a chance to try them, before he flew off.
Hammering out the goodies....

He flew off and kept a weary eye on me.

Here he is with a grub in his beak...

Question for my photographer friends on gather: I cropped the pics in Picasa, but I couldn't figure out how to upload them, I can only see them in the viewer. I can only upload the original picture - how do I upload from picasa?
Well, that was the first excitement of the day, now we are getting ready to go to a superbowl football party over at a friends house. I still have to make a pasta salad. I'm really looking forward to the homemade pizza.
Have a wonderful weekend! GO STEELERS! ....

Nice shots, too. The ones around here drive me nuts with their drumming and insane "laugh" but they never get close enough for a good camera shot.
I use Picasa 2 and just cropped a photo to be sure I knew what I was talking about;)
I clicked on the photo, went to the top to edit and crop, then I choose manual, did the crop, viewed it, then went to file top right hand corner, choose file save as which opened my pictures named it Hibiscus crop, and saved it to My Picturesfolder. Now I can go to Share Photo here on Gather and post it just like any other photo.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I missed anything.
Thanks for posting to *My Bird Shots*!
