The "Fire"

Our community's Chili Contest took place at the Relief Fire House on Pine Street in downtown Mount Holly, the oldest continuously operating Fire House in the country.
To enter the cook-off, both local & amateur chefs meet around 9-10 a.m. to display their skills. The public was invited to taste the entries for free after the judging took place, which begin at noon.
So my family had some delicious chilli for lunch.

The "Ice"

The Ice Carving Festival took place outdoors, in the Business District on High Street and in the Mill Race Village on White Street, where we watched as professional and amateur ice carvers transformed 300 pound blocks of ice into beautiful crystalline works of art. The carving began at 10:30 a.m. and contined until the judging ended at 3:00 p.m.
