Our Unschooling Journey

Jasmine has bothered me all year, and part of last year, telling me that she wanted to be unschooled.

I had my schedule for her for the year made out.

One day while on squidoo I ran across a lens about unschooling. I watched the video that was on that lens. I then went to youtube and watched a whole bunch of other videos on unschooling.

Hey, this really might have some merit. I decided I would give it a try. The first week was technically a holiday week since public school children were out of school for the Christmas/New Years Break. I got out a notebook and started looking back on what I had observed Jasmine doing during that week.

I started a lens on squidoo calling it Our Homeschooling Journal or Journey. Each week I've been posting, blog fashion, what Jasmine did during the week. After week 3 I started adding some photos.

I unschool my son. I always say I homeschool him because I hate explaining unschooling to anyone.

Is unschooling legal in your state? We are totally unregulated here in NJ, so we can do whatever we want.

I read your lens - Good job! She seems like the type that does well with unschooling because she will pick things she wants to learn about on her own. You are a great mother - it's alot of work to homeschool/unschool. I know from experience.
