Me Time Question.

I wonder what other people feel about this. I like spending time with the kids and my nest is empty, but when I go out I like to be around adults. Therefore I like somewhere that kids don't go. Is that being selfish? I don't think so, do you?

I am so tired of my time with kids, that I need to go somewhere kid free... I don't find that to be selfish...

This is a great topic. I am a parent & a teacher. There are times I like going to places where children are not as likely to be like a wine store. Nothing wrong with that at all! Good post!

No not selfish, just going through a phase of life. I work with kids in a preschool. When I am out of there I want to be around adults. I will assume that will change when I have grandchildren, but right now I need the peace and quiet and adult conversation. Ratings rampage.

Nothing wrong with being around adults. Being with kids is also selfish if you happen to enjoy being around them. So it really makes no difference who you choose to spend your time with. :-)

How is it selfish to spend your recreational time in a way that is enjoyable to you? Maybe you have a friend who has children and you spend time with her around her children--that's meeting her needs/supporting your friendship. Spending time in a child-free environment is meeting your needs. It's all about balance. If there are people in your life (that you *want* in your life) who want to spend time around children and you never do, that would be selfish. But if you always spend time w/them around children, that's being a doormat. The trick is to find the happy median.

I understand 100%.My baby is 34,I have 9 grandkids.I like to go to the flea market with out any kids and do.It's so hard to find a kid free place.

ASOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! Everyone needs some time to themselves, to do what they want to do. Myhusband and I try to get away a few hours every week. That is the only way we stay sane.
