I Am The Fattest Person In the Restaurant (Shedding Light)

One of my group members was completing one of the steps for my Shedding Light group.  This was the very first negative sentiment that she wrote down.  I would like to know everyone's input on how you would turn this sentence around into a positive one.  Thank you very much.  Salud

I know this was my first statement, and now I am getting to the point where I hate the word "FAT"..... I work with people that talk about fat people and of course I get offended because yes, I think maybe they say things about me when I am not here. I think maybe this is the incentive I need to lose, because I hate the word "FAT".

Hi Pam - I didn't mention your name but now that you are here, please read all of the comments and post how you feel about them if you have time. Also, I am glad you realize that the word fat just plain sucks! It sounds negative but yes, we all use it without even thinking, mostly when referring to ourselves though...to me it's like the word old - it's just not a great uplifting word - thanks for coming here! I like alot of the comments that were posted here. I will take alot of these to heart, I really like the idea of thinking everyone is looking at me because i am the prettiest, NOT. But I will hold fast the the fact that i will NOT be the heaviest person there for long.

Pam - listen - you can't control other folks thoughts but you can control your own - already pretend that you are the most beautiful woman in the room - if you can't think that way, then you won't project confidence - no matter what your size. If you project confidence, the only thing you will be thinking about is what you will order! Salud

My comment on the article...."NO, -- there will always be someone bigger and someone thinner than us...that's life!!" I know that may not sound 'positive' but living by this 'motto', if you will, has made me the person I am today. I feel confident in who I am....irregardless. My aunt taught me many years ago...there will always be some one, - bigger/thinner, smarter/less smart, prettier/not as pretty, richer/poorer, younger/older happier/sadder (get the picture???) but for me to be who I am and be proud of who I am. She taught me I would never be perfect but with a "positive and realistic attitude" I could 'go places' in my life!!!!! :O)

On that same note, Sistah Philly - we are all perfect in our own way and if we put forth the effort to learn good health, carry ourselves as well as we can, dress in clean clothes and take care of our hair, nails, general overall appearance, and enjoy the peace of mind that loving oneself creates, then we will come across wherever we go as confident...the feeling of perfection begins inside of us - others may have different standards but we can all consider ourselves perfect as we are. It's a rule in my house that no one is allowed to use that ugly "F" word! lol My kid's find that amusing! I just think the word "Fat" is so degrading, so I prefer "PHAT" (Pleasingly Hot and Tempting). It gives it a whole new perspective, so my change would have to be:

I'm the PHATTEST woman in the restraunt! lol
